[FiiO M3K] Probably the Most Cost-Effective Hi-Res Music Player, Discrete HiFi DAC Chip, Supports up to 384K/32B
The M3K looks like a nice improvement over the original M3, and I will probably buy one. I am still hoping for a clip on player by Fiio with FM radio(HD radio greatly preferrred), and at least 24 hours of battery life, priced at under $100.- JK1

I am looking for something better to replace my Sandisk Clip players. The Clip players have FM radio and a built in clip. What I don't like about the Clip Sport is the 2,000 song limit for each database, the card database, and the database for the built in memory. The original Fiio M3 has better...- JK1

Sansa Fuze still relevant?
Have you replaced the battery in the Fuze? If not, battery capacity is likely to be low just due to the age of the battery. The Fuze is good due to rockbox, however it is not so simple to change the battery, so I got rid of mine years ago while its battery still worked well. I have two Clip+...- JK1

[FiiO M3K] Probably the Most Cost-Effective Hi-Res Music Player, Discrete HiFi DAC Chip, Supports up to 384K/32B
A 21% sales tax would be good if you have that instead of an income tax. If you have that in addition to an income tax though, then it is very bad. I like the idea of taxing spending rather than income, as when when spending is taxed, basic necessities such as food and clothing items under $100...- JK1

Define what you mean by podcast support. For me it means variable speed playback with pitch correction, so you can play the podcasts at faster than normal speed or slower than normal speed and still have it sound natural. It also means that if the podcasts are in an album, arranged in order...- JK1

The M3K does seem like a very nice player, however I wish there would be a player based on the m3K platform that is a clip on player, and has FM radio(HD radio greatly preferred). Hopefully such a player would also have at least 24 hours of battery life.- JK1

Margins very much depend on economies of scale, so if you can manage to sell many more than you anticipated, you will likely have much better margins. Component costs are also likely to decline over time, epecially with greater volumes. At the planning stages it is a guessing game about how many...- JK1

Are you using a class 10 or faster card? The Fiio players seem to need a fast card. Are you formatting the card in the player? The card needs to be formatted as FAT32, and it is best to have the player format the card.- JK1

Headphone store in NYC
My first suggestion is B&H. They have a large selection of different brands from low priced to expensive. What price range are you interested in? There are high end stores that only stock the higher end brands, and don't discount much or negotiate prices to any great degree...- JK1

Pads for M50x
B&H has a few choices. The sheepskin and leather ones look interesting. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=ATHM50x earpads&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search= Amazon has some cheaper leather alternatives...- JK1

Closed back headphones for on the go & home use?
Have you used closed headphones extensively? I no longer use them, as my ears overheat very quickly, except when using them outdoors in the cold weather. have you considered using IEMs(in the ear canal isolating earphones) for when you want isolation? IEMs are much more convenient than closed...- JK1

Fiio should fill the market gap left by SanDisk (Clip, + and Zip).
Bluetooth decreases sound quality, and typically greatly decreases battery life of the sound source. It is also another thing to charge, and another thing that can disappoint you by running out of power when you want to use it. Bluetooth headphones and earphones also cost more than comparable...- JK1

Why are the fonts so small here?
It has something to do with how many posts you have made. I don't know the precise cutoff, or if the cutoff is just a specific number of posts made, or if it is a specific number of posts made divided by how long your account exists. This cutoff may also be changing over time. Keep posting, and...- JK1

Why are the fonts so small here?
What is so bad about setting it at 110%? I have my browser set at 125% most of the time. If you are over 40, and especially if you are over 45, you might benefit from using reading glasses. I started using reading glasses in my late 40s. They come in different strengths from +1 to +4, with +4...- JK1

(Newbie) What do I carry with me to improve sound quality when I am outside?
What portable source are you using? An amp will help the sound quality if your source doesn't put out enough power to adequately power your earphones or headphones. If you find that you normally turn the volume up close to maximum, then an external amp might help the sound quality. Do you get...- JK1

New book on the birth of the Sony Walkman
Its funny that the first Walkman models all had two headphone jacks. I guess just a year or so later and forever after, Walkmans came with just one headphone jack. I guess they realized that two people moving around connected to the same audio source wasn't very practical. The use of AA...- JK1

Perhaps it is different for women, however men don't typically keep a phone in a bag they carry. They typically keep a phone clipped to their belt.- JK1

iem recommendation for classical music
Apparently there are a few versions of the F9. One version, the Se, has a fixed cable. The normal versions have detachable cables. It seems like there are separate versions for Android and for Apple. I guess the difference is how the 3.5mm cable is wired. There will also be an F9 pro with...- JK1

Does what I want even exist?
Why the obsession with bluetooth? I don't get it. Bluetooth might be useful in the gym, where a headphone cable might get caught on exercise machines, and sound quality isn't so important. For commuting, I wouldn't want to use a bluetooth earphone. Also keep in mind that when you are commuting...- JK1
