    Android phones and USB DACs

Haven't read the thread and it's not a phone so please remove if too far off topic - but it's Android and it's portable and IIRC I got to this thread via a link to a comment about another Android tablet, so it might be useful to someone.   I had a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 which had issues...

'Can Con' Sydney meet 10/07 Unique Melody, i-enjoy.com.au, Jaben Australia, Twisted Cables & Krispy Kables to join us~ Major prize giveaway by Jaben Aus~

Quote: I repeated my earlier offer to Paul to throw in a few more bucks in case there was a shortfall, but he wouldn't hear of it.  I can still send him a few bucks if he's short - I can help out in that way, but can't spend time helping organise/run things.

Thanks to Paul for a *buttload* of organisational work, to Paul's volunteers who helped a lot, to those who took photographs, to the vendors for bringing a great selection of interesting gear and to every participant who brought even more interesting gear!  I particularly enjoyed spending some...

Quote: One more thing you'll need to consider - you're going to need to make sure you keep the photo ID details *secure* until destroyed, because they're a desirable target for identity thieves.

Definitely record the photo IDs - this is getting significantly bigger than what's gone before in Australia, and there are non-members coming.  Keep copies for a week or two after the meet and then destroy them if no-one who brought gear has any issues.   I'm happy to chip in an extra $20 if...

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

Quote: Maybe.   I have MD5000s and LCD-2s and play test tracks that start off at 10Hz and go up in 1Hz increments.  I can hear(?) something going on at 12-13Hz with MD5000s, and at 15-16Hz with LCD-2s.   I can't promise the test tracks don't have distortion which means harmonics...

I'm certainly interested - thanks for the ... er, heads-up, pkwak.  Have to check on the dates with the keeper of the social calendar though.   I'd really like to try the LCD-2s with an amp with more grunt (and I've been thinking of ordering a DacMini...), and T1s, and HD800s...  ...

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

Quote: Poang is decent enough, but be aware that if you're tall in the back it might not give you head support.  I'm 6'2" and IIRC my leg inseam is about 30", and Poang is probably 2-3" too short.  I really need to find a chair that's good for headphones and also for watching TV.

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

Quote: I have totally the opposite experience.  If there's no music playing I can hear everything with the LCD-2s on, almost as if I didn't have them on.  In contrast, my MD5000s definitely isolate and muffle.   And speaking of the latter which have been my main cans for a couple of...

FWIW I sent a query to Audeze last night about the current waiting time and they responded overnight with a link to the order page, so it looks like they've caught up and eliminated their waiting list.

    UNSW Library Meet 22nd August

Guys, it's touch and go whether I'll make it. My wife had an operation a week or so ago and needs a lot of care at home. I'll come if I can, but I'm really not confident she'll be ready for me to disappear for several hours by Saturday.

    UNSW Library Meet 22nd August

I should be able to make it on the 22nd. Anyone know how much daylight there is in the rooms? I'm still light sensitive. Will bring: - MD5000s (with gray Cardas cable) - Pico DAC/Amp - D2 Boa - laptop, HDD, hundreds of gigs of (mostly) FLACs

    UNSW Library Meet 22nd August

I can make it for the first few hours on the 15th; have a family thing in the evening and still not very well so have to rest in between. I have to consult the domestic social calendar re: 8th or 22nd but I would really like to hear HD800s...

I'm in, pending actual dates etc. Unfortunately only the same equipment as last time ;-) Shame you didn't get the HD800 - goes without saying I'd have really liked to have heard them.
