Comment by 'dogbait' on listing 'RPi 3 with HiFiBerry Digi+ Standard (complete bundle)'
It's this board added to a Raspberry Pi. https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/boards/hifiberry-digiplus-standard-version/ It basically gives two digital audio outs to your Raspberry Pi (in addition to USB and 3.5mm audio). The outputs you gain are TOSLink and S/PDIF out.- dogbait

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Yep - it sold within minutes - I loved these headphones but still can't believe how much appreciation there is for them after all this time: https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/hifiman-he6-headphone-parts-only.56014/ It's pretty heartening to see 🥰 What do ex-HE6 owners recommend buying...- dogbait

Hifiman HE6 - very lightly used and kept in a closet for many years They unfortunately snapped at the headband after starting to use them recently and after stripping the screws I've decided to sell for parts rather than try and repair As pictured: * broken headband * two working drivers (not...- dogbait

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Thanks for the offer of the yokes @Nimzerz - right now I'm in two minds whether to repair it or not. With one cup the screws came out cleanly - with the other cup they're hopelessly stripped: I've contacted Hifiman to see if I can get some replacement cups but they've been busy trying to...- dogbait

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
So my HE-6 after years of stellar service snapped at the headband. I tried removing the screws on the ear cups - to replace the headband but alas the screws are made out of some super soft steel because one sheared off and the other is hopelessly stuck requiring drilling out now for both of...- dogbait

[unboxing] KEF LS50 Wireless
Figured out my network issue. My home domain is sub.domain.com. The app can't find the speaker unless the DNS search domain is blank or just domain.com. To resolve it on iOS I had to go to Settings, WiFi, the connected network, then change my Search Domain to just domain.com. I've notified...- dogbait

Sony MDR-1000X
Anyone had ear piercing static coming out of these headphones? Had this happen the other day. They were connected to my Macbook Pro (using aptX). No audio playing and (thankfully) lying on the desk. A continuous ear splitting screech of static came out of them loud enough to have everyone in...- dogbait

[unboxing] KEF LS50 Wireless
Thanks for the info. I've tried ethernet to the speaker, wifi, even setup an isolated network on an Airport Express and connected everything to that. At a loss - guess I better try and contact KEF support again. As an aside if you browse to the LS50W web page and check the HTML source it...- dogbait

[unboxing] KEF LS50 Wireless
Just picked up a pair. Previously had a Devialet 120 + KEF Reference 1 setup so basically a big brother to the LS50. The LS50W comes close but it's definitely no cigar as far as fidelity goes. It's also shy of a pair of Devialet Phantoms but considering the aforementioned setups cost...- dogbait

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
I know we all have different tastes, but I can't agree that they 'sound like ass'. When correctly placed (like any loudspeaker) they sound very good indeed. I picked up a pair during the 45 day trial and they compared very favourably to my KEF Reference/Bryston setup.- dogbait

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
Having owned both Bryston (class AB) and Devialet (class D + class A) amps (also own some Schiit gear too :) I did a blind comparison. I have to say Devialet more than held its own - I'd recommend a listen if you folks at Schiit haven't heard them - it's pretty innovative and good sounding stuff.- dogbait

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
Seconded. And whilst on the topic of feet a little perplexed as to why a Mjolnir 2 has 4 feet but a Gungnir MB (far more expensive) has only three...it's annoying because it means the Gungnir rocks and gouges the table top anytime I lean on the back corner whilst plugging a cable into it.- dogbait

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Thanks, seen two of those :) It's actually super frustrating buying Bryston gear in the UK. It's pretty much 1:1 for £ vs $ pricing. The guy at Bryston's UK distributor who does the cost conversion must have the easiest job in the world...- dogbait

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Heheh, amen. The kind folks at Schiit EU loaned me a Mjolnir 2 + Gumby. I warmed the Schiit stack up for 8+ hours. I then volume levelled the MJ and my Yamaha speaker amp so that their volumes were equal. In comparing the two the Yamaha has it by a hair - a little easier to listen to...- dogbait

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Have approximately $1500 to spend on amplification for the HE-6. Currently using an old Yamaha DSP-A2070 receiver from the 90s which puts 80W into 8-ohms. It does the job but wondering if a Mjolnir 2 or Krell KAV-400XI would be better? Found a used Krell for £1200 boxed with remote etc...- dogbait
