I've been using a set of Ultrasone DJ1s for more than two years for DJ mixing and personal listening and I can't reccomend them, or their successors, enough. Great, punchy bass, and a surprisingly acute and analytical response all across the board. The also work very well un-amped.

Have to reccomend the Ultrasone DJ1 's . At $125 they have amazing sound...Mids aren't the most amazing but have exellent bass and isolation. Great buy really.

Well.... I ended up purchasing the DJ1's and I have to say that they are simply amazing. Excellent bass response- warm,but still subjective enough for live audio monitoring. Sounds great with brass. I can't compare to the ATH M50's yet, but I can definitely recommend the DJ1's
