The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review
That resembles the SA5000 in more than one way. Just look at that plug even... All in all looks like it belongs in Star Wars. (Ep IV and up of course )- Pacific Microsonics

Audio Alchemy DDE v3.0 any good by today's standards?
Nothing to do much with the hdcd playback actually, the pmd100 hdcd decoder chip is used sometimes mainly because of its superior digital filter. The dac chips inside the dde3 are also very good, and many times more preferable to "modern" chips. The rest of the components inside the dac are...- Pacific Microsonics

Want the HD650, where can I get it with good cable ?
I personally still stand by the Cardas cable as my standard. Tried silver dragon, blue dragon, equinox, and some fine diy flavors. Out of all of them I feel the cardas is the most balanced with sound, comfort, price(excluding diy) and satisfaction. Avoid stiff and or overly thick ridiculous...- Pacific Microsonics

It may be sensitive to different batteries, but is it sensitive enough so that when I pass gas over here, the micro-changes in air density is detected as a subtle impact on sound quality of your SR-71A over there?- Pacific Microsonics

The Channel Islands VDA-2...a Fine DAC
You have an SA5000 and headroom amp, those two alone should offset any slight feelings of "laid back." Just my opinion. From what I gather with an HD650 and headroom micro amp when I owned them both, the sound was very lively, moreso than my HD580 and the amps I pair with it now. So with a...- Pacific Microsonics

Audio Alchemy DDE v3.0 any good by today's standards?
It's fine by todays standards, if you look at the price you can fetch it for. Look at what is out there right now for 500 and what you get with "vintage" dacs and you'd be hard pressed to get a better value. The AD1862/PMD100 combo with a nice output stage isn't easily "outdated" by a lot of the...- Pacific Microsonics

ANNOUNCEMENT: Emmeline "The Black Bird" SR-71A
I liked the knob on the old one, but the smaller protrusion on the front panel of the new one will make it easier for those with flatter and larger iPods. The old one said dual mono, the new one just says dual... are either true dual mono separation from the power supply till the output? -

Worst "high-end" equipment you've heard
G08: shocking how much it differs from the 508.24, on of my favorite players. Apache: Paired with a slow and thick source and it may sound good, eg:G08 Predator: How is there so much praise of the amp section? The SR71 is much better. Edition 9(Not as bad as I anticipated, but still mediocre...- Pacific Microsonics

Cartridge for Pro-Ject Debut
No. The table is fine. I used to own a debut III with a grado gold. I would invest in their speed box II. For about 150 it takes the table up a major notch. I don't think this table is much of a limitation- it has a fabulous arm and with the speed box I cannot find anything to dislike.- Pacific Microsonics
