Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Hi guys, what's the most recent firmware version? When I turn on the May it said "Holo" and then "May" with Ver 1.32 on top right. Is this the firmware version of the Dac? From this section in Kitsune website it seems to refer to something else (i.e., 3144 firmware pack). EDIT: Nevermind... I...- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
I will know soon enough mate... If I let go the T+, it will be with great loss, as individually the set costed more than the Holo. The DAC, the Hermes DDC, and BNC link cables for syncing the T+ clock with the DDC ($920 each). Maybe at 45-50% discount to be able to let all these go. I won't...- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Great, that's cool (pun intended)! That makes sense. If you guys never run into any trouble that's a bit relief. Now I will see whether I will like the Termie Plus or May KTE more and will let one go. The Termie Plus has been with me for about 2 years (left on/in stand by almost all the time)...- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
As in "usual" I don't mean to compare with other MAY unit, and I just mean it runs warmer than my other DACs (i.e., Terminator Plus / Ayre QB9 Twenty). From my research, I'm aware that May runs hot but I don't expect this kind of temperature. It's particularly warm on the side panel. In any...- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Hi guys, I just received my unit yesterday (MAY KTE + Red) and am currently in break-in process. However, I find that the DAC unit runs very hot (well... not too hot to the touch but hotter than usual). I also have Denafrips Terminator Plus and I thought it ran hot... until I have the May KTE...- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Whilst I have no 1st hand experience, from my reading (a lot), it seems USB implementation in May is outstanding. Goldensound even said it's measured better than the best DDC around. So I think the USB should serve you well. Also with USB there will be no syncing/locking time with PLL on.- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Thanks guys! I've placed by order on the May KTE and should receive it in couple weeks time. This will replace my T+ and Hermes DDC + Synergistic Research's Atmosphere X2 Coax clock cables + Tubulus Concentus I2S cable. This combo combined costs a lot more than the May itself. Wonder how can...- PrTv

Holo Audio May DAC Speculation
Hi guys... now I'm using the Termie Plus + Hermes DDC and good Coax cables to sync the clock between the DAC and DDC. With my headphone setup (in Sig), I regularly find that treble is too hot for many poorly recorded tracks which I don't like. It's always been my impression that Termie Plus is...- PrTv

Zähl HM1 - Reference Headphone Amplifier
Hi it seems you also have the A6. How it pairs with the HM1? Do you use A6's internal DAC or use it as a streamer?- PrTv

Zähl HM1 - Reference Headphone Amplifier
That's very reassuring mate! So with the U2022 HM1 fits even better than the Ferrum stack? Will PM you about EQ. I tried but somehow my U2022 sounded terrible after the EQ. There must be something wrong.- PrTv

Zähl HM1 - Reference Headphone Amplifier
Hi guys... I'm seriously considering this unit right now... so much so that plan to fly from Thailand to Singapore to listen to a demo unit soon. Can anyone give me some idea how this amp pairs with Utopia 2022 and ZMF's Verite Closed / Atrium Open? I much prefer warmer sound, and my concern is...- PrTv

Looking for suggestions for an amp that suits my needs (to replace my V281)
I'm now using Violectric V281 as a headphones amplifier + pre-amplifier and the setup is like this: Dac > XLR out to V281 / V281 > XLR out to a tube power-amplifier It has to be this was as I also have a Susvara and the V281 cannot drive it to the fullest, so I have a tube amp specifically made...- PrTv

Eversolo DMP-A6 Network Streamer/DAC
I think the A6 (my unit is ME version) is a very good streamer. I use it alongside my Aurender N100 and I can hardly tell the difference. A6ME is sold for a lot less comparing with the N100 (retail price-wise), and has much nicer screen and application. The sole purpose of me getting the A6ME...- PrTv

Eversolo DMP-A6 Network Streamer/DAC
Let me test it for you mate! First, without EQ (see "EQ" icon above "Ain't" is OFF). This track is 24/96. Sure enough, from my DDC, it's indicated that 24/96 signal was sent from A6 (see 96K in red). Then I tried enabling PEQ. See EQ icon now is ON. However, from my DDC and DAC, the signal...- PrTv

Eversolo DMP-A6 Network Streamer/DAC
DDC can actually improve sound quality. Take a look at Goldensound’s video here. Although Ires + Ares is a nice combo, if you can swing it, I recommend opting for Hermes DDC due to its superior clock. With the Ires, I’m unsure whether its clock would outperform the clock inside your A6 ME...- PrTv

Eversolo DMP-A6 Network Streamer/DAC
That's possible, as, with SPDIF, clock generator in the streamer dictates the timing of the digital output, whilst for USB, the DAC will rely on DAC's internal clock. As your unit is A6ME, I think clock inside should be superior to those in the EF499. In my case, with the DDC and Terminator...- PrTv

Focal Utopia 2022 Review, Measurements
On the difference between the BSHP and Yatono, below is what Brise told me (and I quoted) “Compared to YATONO-HP, BSHP for UTOPIA SG is adjusted to take advantage of the matured high-frequency contours. Since it has a lively sound, it is recommended for those who seek sharpness and speed in...- PrTv

Yep… also eyeing for appropriate cable for the 2022. I’m trying to borrow this Brise Audio cable for a demo and if it does the trick, will get this for 2.5m length. Also use Brise Yatono Ultimate with my Susvara and really love it.- PrTv

Focal Utopia 2022 Review, Measurements
Posted this in OG Utopia thread and just saw this thread, so I will post here too. Just got the 2022 version a few days back and have been feeding them with bassy music at appropriate level for 50-55 hours. At this stage, my impression is that the 2022 version doesn’t seem to have the same...- PrTv

Hi guys.. around 50-55ish hours in, and my impression now is that the 2022 version doesn’t seem to have the same level of dynamic, in comparison with the OG. I compared them side by side listening to several tracks and the difference was quite clear. TBH it’s a bit boring to listen to. Hope...- PrTv

Thanks. I paired mine with DanaCable's Lazuli Reference. Bought this few years back for OG Utopia and this cable TRANSFORMED my OG Utopia. Mid is fuller and treble is tamed to the degree that I no longer feel fatigued. With the Newtopia that is warmer, it's to be seen how good this cable will...- PrTv
