What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)
He was both illuminating and entertaining around the Schiit threads. I surmise he is not now the self we knew. In fact, the first comment signed "Tony in Michegan" didn't have his phrasing and I thought it was someone else. The following comments did sound like him alas, though not the same...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Hi gdhal, of course I don't know the answer to your question, and have no intention of supplying speculation in answer. And...I've not tested whether I hear a difference personally. I do recall - and B1II's experience speaks to this - that most found no difference on most tracks. Thinking about...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Welcome to this forum. Apologies in advance for the long reply. I guess what makes audio most times a journey is that our brains are constantly learning how to hear in different ways. We don't - most of us - arrive at adulthood highly trained in how to perceive and process sound. I've had two...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Hi D2Girls, I think you're missing my point that predicting what another person thinks or will do ("how...treats his customers....I'm convinced that he would simply write me off") is chancey at best. You may be entirely right. Equally, you may be entirely wrong. With Mike, who knows? With...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
You were explaining your speculation of a mindset that Mike might have, and reporting it as if fact - "that's just how he is as a person I suppose". Really?! Another possible explanation is that he's a tad busy and doesn't have time to monitor every Schiit thread on head-fi. Of note, he is...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
OT for this thread but...I have not heard Ragnarok but it's my clear recollection Jason designed and built it as Schiit's flagship headphone amp. That it was configured to drive speakers too speaks to its power capability. It doesn't mean - as I understand it - Ragnarok's headphone section is...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
+1 - what @winders states is exactly what Mike has said. Concerning the "no Yggy 2", the context in which that statement was made was speculation that a "Yggy 2" might be in the works. Whilst Jason has produced redesigns of his amps - and added "2" to these sometimes significant revisions - the...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
To be fair I think our "Chord lover" may be a Yggy lover too. That said, we have learned from Jason's and Mike's very open disclosures that engineering is a road of many choices and compromises. Rob Watts has his views about which matter, and made his choices. Mike similarly has his views and...- Argo Duck

Schiit Mjolnir2 Tube Rolling Thread
Don't have a definitive answer for you sorry, not having encountered a microphonic tube before. Inclined to think burn in won't improve it - because burn in changes are usually related to subtle SQ changes - but I don't know. This thread is valuable but seems to have few active followers. You...- Argo Duck

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)
Hmm, thought this old thread had been locked. No direct experience, but googling key words from this thread title together with "audiolab mdac" might work for you since search this thread doesn't seem available any more. Trying this unearthed this very brief impression. There may be others...- Argo Duck

Schiit Mjolnir 2 Listening Impressions
I agree with TK16, finding (usually small) changes with some gear and not with others. Personally, I suspect it's less to do with the gear and more to do with my brain adjusting to (a) a different presentation (b) things new gear might do incrementally better or worse than other gear I'm used...- Argo Duck

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread
Concerning volume controls, one of the old hands over on the Decware forums used to "ride the gain", meaning he would use both volume controls. Configuring the preamp and Taboo differently gave him the flexibility to dial in a desired 'sound' more easily by adjusting the relative levels. Easier...- Argo Duck

The Decware TABOO MK 111 Thread
The LCD2 (rev 1) on the older, mkII Taboo are indeed something; my preferred amp for this headphone. Moreover, the mkII indeed has lower input sensitivity and was frequently paired with the older CSP2+, a preamp which can put out 30V. (Personally, I find the Taboo more transparent without this...- Argo Duck

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Yes, reports (from early owners) mentioned around 200 hours, playing music not critical. Mine sounded good from the start. I didn't look for improvements over time as I wasn't able to listen regularly - but (Yggy left on of course) I noticed distinct improvements anyway.- Argo Duck
