if I plug my BTR15 into an AC/DC charger and try to wear the headphones I get a small zap so isolation isn't perfect. it doesn't happen if I plug it into a power bank so I guess it's something with the ground.

is the XMOS firmware upgrade included on the Bluetooth firmware or both need to be individually upgraded? one via Bluetooth and the other via USB from a Windows machine

As explained my problem relates to choosing sources and continuity. when it feels like reconnecting to "the other device" it will stop playing the current source. And there seems to be no way of telling it to play from the second source other than re-pairing.

I only use the balanced output, volume usually around 20.

I did, because I've broken three 2.5mm jacks, then rehomed my old and loyal BTR5. Other than that, I see no reason to upgrade a 2021.

I've had two BTR5s, one stopped charging one day and Amazon took it back, the other worked perfectly for almost two years and is now rehomed :) I haven't noticed sound improvements but I'm amateur on that field. BT/LDAC seems to have significantly better (longer distance inside the house)...
