Where Do You See The Future of HiFi?

I’m just sitting here drinking my morning cup and browsing the internet, just thinking about the possibilities that could present themselves in the near future… Technology is advancing globally across all fields at breakneck speeds and it’s not slowing down. In the last couple years we’ve seen...

    Most Impressively Bad/Disappointing Headphone(s) You've Tried

I was at the Florida Audio Expo 2023 and got to try them out at the Focal room. They were good, but like you, I didn't find them anything special that warranted the price tag.

    Most Impressively Bad/Disappointing Headphone(s) You've Tried

Dekoni Blue, bloated bass with a weird plasticky timbre. I bought them as my first planars as the reviews on drop were mostly positive and they were on sale. My first listening session with them was spent wondering if something was wrong with my equipment lol.

    JM Audio Editions XTC Headphones

While I'm waiting for my XTC-O, I was wondering if I could pick everyone's brains for a moment on their preferred gear for these? At the moment my chain is PC (USB) > Geshelli J2 > FOZ SS-X > and a choice between the Drop 789, Little Dot MKII (Mullard Tubes) and the Nitsch Magni Piety. I'm gonna...

Need advice on what to purchase

Ah, sorry I didn’t think about that 😅 I’m not sure what options you have that’ll connect to your consoles, Sony especially has made its console less than compatible with most DAC options by removing optical out and not having a modern USB audio out. I imagine someone else can help you tho!

Need advice on what to purchase

If you want something that’ll get you started where you can conserve space and work with all devices listed, I’d recommend that you start with an atom stack. The Atom DAC+ has a dedicated USB cable that’s compatible with all modern consoles and you can swap a regular usb cable out for your PC...

What Gear Would You Consider To Be “Fun”

Oh man, if only everyone believed that. I know people who definitely think they can determine whether something is good or not simply by reading the data around a piece of gear. Don’t get me wrong, the science, data, graphs etc. behind it all is extremely important and can inform us of what to...

What Gear Would You Consider To Be “Fun”

There are so many posts about wanting The Best, Reference, Neutral etc. gear. When I first started in HiFi I also thought that I wanted those things but now as I’ve become more experienced I’ve found that I vastly prefer the more interesting, different and “fun”sounding gear. We can talk about...

Review by 'AetherDrive' on item 'Hifiman HE-R9 JM OCD Extreme Edition'

My Background: In Case Context Is Important To You You can skip this if you'd like but given that this is my first review, actually my first anything on head-fi, I feel that it's important to provide context on my observations based on my experiences. First, I'm a storyteller by nature and am...
