I liked the Final Type E tips on mine. They were a bitch and a half to actually fit on the nozzle though. The tips I settled on were the Eartune Fidelity U tips for the comfort. The earphones feel semi-custom after using those tips and being able to get a deeper insertion than with stock tips...

I like to bump up the subbass and maybe drop the midbass by -1. Took me forever but I finally found a perfect fit by using the Fidelity U eartips. I can get a deep enough insertion that they feel semi-custom at this point.

I've tried earphones across all ranges. IE200, IE600, Shuoer S12 Pro, U4s, IER-Z1R, Meastro SE, ThieAudio Hype2, and finally a custom Fir XE6. My favorite of the bunch for universals was easily Hype 2 because of the fit and tuning relative to its price range. I'm going to test the Hype 4 first...

Volume controls are definitely under appreciated. That's one of my favorite features added in the Airpods Pro 2 over the original set also.

I'll never get rid of my Philphones. Partly because it seems annoying to sell since most people don't know what they are, but the bass response is the best I've heard out of any open back and I drop a couple DB in the treble and it's perfect for me.

For that price does anything beat the FatFreq Maestro / Scarlet Mini? I like the ThieAudio Hype 2 / 4 series around that price too but I EQ up the subbass by about 2 or 3 db.

Yeah I've been looking at the Fir stuff more and customs just don't seem very cost effective relative to the GM which I know I'll enjoy based on a demo but I need the comfort of a custom. Thanks for the response.

Honestly it was both lol. The SE physically hurt my ear but I also noticed the ear pressure buildup very quickly. Do the tuning nodules in the GM alleviate pressure adequately?

How bad is ear pressure buildup on the Grand Maestro vs the lower end models like Maestro SE or the Minis? I'm considering a pair of custom GM but couldn't wear the Maestro SE for longer than an hour before it became too uncomfortable to wear.
