FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More
My Ibasso can power the Scarlets fine, but I need to boost the volume quite high to get to listenable levels for me, plus it drains the battery fast as well. Also, the only terminations I have on my Ibasso are 3.5 and 2.5, and after demo'ing the R4 and Canjam, I just couldn't help but pre-order one.- Silantr0

Plus the anniversary GM has a new module system if I'm not wrong, and it sticks completely out of the shell of the GM compared to when it was slightly flushed before. In terms of sound, they were pairing the GM with the Creative Sound Blaster X5 at Canjam SG, so there were some changes to the...- Silantr0

From what I heard there are other color modules that are in the works, not sure when they might release them in the future but I do agree that the blue module might not match with a lot of Fatfreq's faceplate designs.- Silantr0

So long as QC is there, I don't mind the long waiting times, though with Fatfreq being as small as they are and the huge backlog they have, some QC issues will slip through the cracks whether they like it or not.- Silantr0

Thanks for the positivity despite all the backlash FF has been receiving.🙏 I have heard from Ben that they are in the midst of opening up a second office in Singapore, so that they can have more space to hire and accommodate new workers. They are aware of the issues at hand, they just need some...- Silantr0

There's also another model in their signature series called the Tsuru, which is the cheapest in their signature series. Definitely warmer in the mids, and less analytical than the Sakura and Hayabusa when I listened to it. I was genuinely surprised upon hearing the Maestro though (the non SE...- Silantr0

The upgrade cable for the Scarlet Mini is pure silver. I compared it with Fatfreq's stock copper cable and I found the sound frequency to remain relatively unchanged for my part.- Silantr0

If we're talking about powering the Scarlet Minis, then most decent DAPs should be able to do the job. Heck, I can even power them with my Fiio KA13 dongle on my phone with no problems and they still managed to scale quite well. I'm not too well-versed when it comes to pairings though.- Silantr0

That cable looks amazing with the Maestro Mini 😍. Hope your Scarlet Minis arrive soon, no one likes waiting either. Just curious how well the Shanling pairs with the MM, as I've been looking to get the Hiby R3 II due to its portability.- Silantr0

I've been seeing less to no complaints recently regarding their QC, now is mostly about shipping times as they're struggling to catch up with their current backlog.- Silantr0

Great choice of design, the cherise series is definitely one of my favourite faceplate designs from Fatfreq by far 👍. Definitely looks better in-person compared to the pictures based on what I saw in their showroom.- Silantr0

FatFreq Maestro SE - The King of Top of the Line Bass?
I thought the bass on the Canpur would be more visceral than the GM with those bone-conduction drivers, but the bass turned out to be more tamed than I expected, and definitely nowhere near Maestro levels of bass. The sub bass doesn't rumble much, and the mid-bass isn't as dynamic as I wanted it...- Silantr0

FatFreq Maestro SE - The King of Top of the Line Bass?
In terms of bass, Canpur's is definitely on the tamer, leaning more towards sub-bass. The mid bass has sufficient slam when needed, but you're definitely not gonna get GM levels of bass here. I would say the quality of the bass is there but not the quantity like the GM. Vocals are natural and...- Silantr0

Of course, I still recommend anyone to demo it if you have the chance to formulate your opinions here. I'm very interested to hear what you guys think of it and how it compares to GM or MSE even.
