I have tried playing around with UAPP streaming to U18 via a Cayin N6ii, I can't tell much difference with the various settings inside UAPP. Honest, only with very high quality streaming components will you be able to feel the difference, my notebook streaming has a dedicated LPS. Even a...

I used the middle setting, there are altogether 7 settings I think, I chose the 4th one. That is not the most analytical setting, but that setting gives the ambiance and atmosphere of jazz music which no other settings can give. It is not difficult to try, just try all 7 and see which one is...

    Gustard U18

I didn't even know one could have sound without installing the U18 driver !! BTW, since you are at it, try playing around with the buffer settings in the driver, it affects the smoothness of the sound, I like the sound with sample size setting in the middle, too high sample size it sounds too...

Great!! Congratulations!! BTW, I will just mention 2 things that you may be interested, which may bring your system to an even higher level : 1) for C18, connecting it to both U18 and the DAC has audible benefits, at least I am sure of this on X26 Pro, I haven't tried U18 on R26 much...

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

Never tried that before, since I am settled with the sound from PC, and I don't have any particular area I want to improve on that. BTW, I am using an Intel notebook and add a LPS supply. The LPS quiets down the PC a lot with much darker background and much more stable imaging.

Since you are trying the Ground Defender, you may as well try the AQ Jitterbug. Personally I like the Jitterbug more and am using it now, it increases soundstage size, give a bit more 'meat' to vocals AND also provide some beautiful tone and harmonics to musical instruments, which I found other...

For me, R26 does have stuttering issue using BubbleuPnP, connecting to external streamers will usually get rid of stuttering problem. I have been using a number of streaming methods, and has compared comprehensively iFi Zen Stream with internal uPnP and other streaming methods, let me elaborate...

wondered how Leo Bodnar compare with LHY OCK-2? I am a user of OCK-2, for one thing I know, OCK-2 provides improvement with direct connection to R26 without U18.

I use Windows to stream in a way nobody I know of uses. I use Fidelizer together with Foobar2000. I don't play direct from Foobar2000 though, I install uPnP component and use BubbleuPnP to stream to Foobar2000. In the background, I also have Audiophile Renderer running, but I don't use that...

Thanks mate! appreciate you all for the help. I use Tidal also, but mostly Qobuz. Tidal is good for some vocal recordings, but I listen to classical music a lot, and Qobuz seems quite a bit better in streaming classical music.

I tried Jplay before, it is not my cup of tea. Jplay kind of make the sound having some favor of its own, and it also brings soundstage a bit more forward, all in all it seems to make details easier to be heard on a lot of headphones and hifi systems. It also helps soften up edges, so it helps...

I am just trying to avoid having a PC in between. I have already used FMC between router and R26, and you won't believe how cheap things can be if ordered from a place like China, the whole FMC thing can be below USD10..... I have tried, via USB everything is fine, I am just trying to figure...

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

My R26 is connected directly to router. I use BubbleuPnP and MConnect connected to same network domain to stream via upnp to Gustardrenderer directly. 44.1khz Qobuz seems ok, but higher bitrate like 96khz sometimes stutters. Streaming DSD64 sometimes stutters as well. I don't believe it is a...

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

Yes, you are correct, the right USB and I2S cable is important to get it working with U18. Actually, mostly the work of USB cable, I2S is less influential than USB in my system. However, LAN is the most simple setup, that's why I want to see if there is a way to make it work without stuttering...

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

I use both BubbleuPnP and MConnect, both yields the same result. I don't want to go Roon as I want to keep it simple. If I have to set up another PC in between, I may as well add a U18 and use a PC's USB to stream to it, I am sure that will sound even better.

GUSTARD DAC-R26 Balanced Decoder R2R+1Bit Dual Native Decoding Music Bridge

I am using LAN direct connect to R26's internal renderer. Playing Qobuz 44.1khz files seems ok, but once it moves to higher bitrate, the renderer sometimes stutters. Same with playing DSD files, it stutters. I suppose it is because of lack of RAM and the need to swap to sdcard sometimes. If it...

Try adjusting the filters within R26, that could help smooth things up. Try to use square wave wherever possible, clock cable also affects the sound a lot, if the aliexpress clock cable is harsh, try Harmonic Tech, HT cable definitely is not harsh.

actually it is not about being normal or abnormal. People can't hear difference of a master clock usually indicates that their system is not analytical enough to show the difference, it is like connecting a master clock to a DAC output to a Sony combo system, of course one won't hear any...

Yes, I think the K2 synthesizer is doing a great job, otherwise the DAC can't be sounding that good. On the tungsten cube, a few questions : 1) you put one each on U18 and the DAC? 2) what size did you use? 3) did you stick it on using blutek? or just put it on top of K2? I am planning to try...

What is the streamer you are using? I think that is the main reason we are seeing different results. Also, OCK2 is a big step ahead of OCK1, try it. The bass from X26 Pro with OCK2 is high end level good. In general, I agree with you the Weiss produces a more 'analog' kind of sound in most...

same user of U18 and X26 Pro, I just use LHY OCK2 instead of AfterDark. Honestly, a clock together with U18 and X26 Pro somehow produces a synergy that is well beyond the price tag of these equipment. I have compared it with R26, the R26 cannot match X26 Pro in the bass department, and with a...
