HD 660s2 has arrived, in the middle of my first listen and oh yes they are good. I'll do some comparisons with 660s later Edit 1: They've brought tears to my eyes already and several boughts of chills. I love this feeling

So, I'm hearing the S2 plays nice with tubes? I couldn't justify grabbing a Feliks Audio Echo for the 660s but since the S2 has higher impedance I might consider it. I do enjoy the Lyr but want to see if I'd prefer the OTL and sell the one I don't prefer. 660s2 should be arriving tomorrow!

I didn't even realize he said on top of the head. I like to buy Geekria knit headband covers and buy one of their headband pads. Shove the pad into the cover and close it up, tons of cushion

I have this issue with just about every headphone and can't wear them for long without discomfort and headaches. Just managed to snag a pair off classifieds! The 660s were my first of the 600 series, coming from the Hifiman Arya V2 as a main. While I love the V2 their sibilance was too much, and I couldn't get them to agree with my head comfort wise. In hindsight, they're also quite thin in the midrange...

Having owned the Amiron and still using the 1990s daily. If you want a warmer, easier to listen to headphones grab something like an HD 650 or 660s over the Amiron. The Amiron manage to be warm and muddied at times while also being hot to listen to, my opinion of course. HD 6XX series is more...

Appreciate the info, sounds like it'd be right up my alley. I'll take a look at the 900 Pro X though I'm ok with the 1990s. As said they're exclusively for my keyboard/mixing purposes and they handle that really well.

So what's the consensus these days on 660s vs 660s2? The 660s have become my main headphone. The 1990s are great as an instrument headphone, but for music it's too treble hot. I sold off my Arya v2 for being sibilant and uncomfortable to wear. 660s is a good level of warmth and treble that...

1990 is really energetic, the balanced pads kinda raise the mids up but IMO they get muffled as opposed to warm. The Amiron is warm and detailed but more energetic like the 1990. Jazz and classical, acoustic stuff sounds great on the amiron

I'm thinking you'd be better off with some of Beyer's warmer headphones. Amiron Home or the T1

Give it 2 or 3 days first. You're used to the warm signature as opposed to the more technical 2/64. Higher resolution, better imaging and spacial representation. It's truly a treat

Lol you might want to read through this thread about the whole "it doesn't change the sound thing". I've found them to sound better than the stock cables my headphones came with I just ordered a pair for my 1990s and my 660s

I think Arya in general is quite V shaped. Very apparent when you're listening to warmer headphones and switch over to Arya

Amiron has to be one of the strangest headphones I've heard. It manages to both be warm and musical while being unbearably hot at times. With some artists it comes together really well but with many it doesn't.

Highly unusual. They are not weak in clamp force whatsoever

I find MCB filter sounds smoother. Like going from a stepped sinewave to a smooth one, tough to describe but it's more RAW

I don't get the inside my head feeling with the 660s. They're definitely the tightest out of my trio (DT 1990, 660s, Arya V2) but they still surround me and actually have a pretty impressive holographic imaging thing going on.

Long story short, balanced on Jot 2 sounds better because it outputs a higher amount of wattage. Almost 4 times as much compared to its single ended output. Lyr+ in comparison is closer to the power output of Jot 2 balanced. So the argument is Balanced vs unbalanced in regards to the Jot 2...

I've had Jot 2 and now Lyr+ The Lyr in Solid state is every bit of the amp the Jot 2 is but just a smidge of warmth. The Lyr however takes out the Jot 2 when you go into tube mode. It creates a nice 3D soundstage, and can be farther colored depending on the tube. All the details and clarity...
