List of DACs that work with iPad
Interesting. I had to stay in 4.2 (dev) so I never tested the uDAC configuration with 3.2 installed. It could be related to the OS controlling the maximum-power output it wants the USB to deliver (within the bounds) to preserve battery life. Anyone have a 16GB (non-3G) iPad that works on 4.2.1...- BryanP

List of DACs that work with iPad
sorry for the double post... but yeah, it really sucks because once again, that's the main reason why I got the camera-connector kit lol. I've tried pretty much every permutation possible with the connector so I don't know what else to say unless the uDAC is messed up and is...- BryanP

List of DACs that work with iPad
Quote: Thanks for the help. Yep, I tried all that already. I've pretty much given up on it lol. At least I can still use my HD600s with the EF2A. I have the original uDAC so it's not because it's a uDAC 2. I bought it back in Feb when it was in the hype lol...- BryanP

List of DACs that work with iPad
Quote: Yeah it's really odd. Yep, I've tried plugging in the uDAC first, then powering the iPad on. I've also tried to do from when the iPad is already turned on. Basically when the uDAC turns on its LED, the pop-up would come up. Really is a bummer because that's mainly why I...- BryanP

List of DACs that work with iPad
For some reason when I use the uDAC, I get the message "The devices uses too much power." This is the first version of the uDAC and I'm running on a non-3G wifi 16GB iPad with 4.2GM2. The iPad works fine with an externally powered dac/amp such as the hifiman EF2A however (sounds great, listening...- BryanP

35mm film low light performance vs. digital?
The problem is that if you haven't done much low-light in film, then you might be disappointed with the results once it develops. It depends on how grainy the film gets at ISO 1600 (which depends on your film), and what kind of shots you have to take in the "low light". It's not the same as just...- BryanP

Anyone know of a high end earphone place by Newport Beach, Ca?
Check out: Yama's Enterprises, Inc. Importers of Fine Audio products (from: http://www.stax.co.jp/Export/Distributor-USA.html) I believe they sell Stax products. They're located in the Gardena area. Guitar Center has some high-end stuff sometimes, but they tend to have inflated prices...- BryanP

Please recommend a simple voltmeter.
Cheap one: Multimeter Model MAS 830 Just use an ohmmeter and check for zero resistance unless you have a continuity function (or go here if you want more info: http://www.ladyada.net/library/metertut/continuity.html) Hope all is well!- BryanP

AKG K701
I alternate between my HD600s and K701s frequently because I appreciate their differences in presenting music. There's just something about using the K701s with acoustic music that make them pretty damn good because of the detail in the instruments. I love how you can hear the microdetail...- BryanP

[REVIEW] Head-Direct RE0 - a new contender for the best IEM
Amping the RE0s can make a difference. I remember using it straight out of my AVR as well as Sony player and there was a lack of sound-stage and bass in both instances. I needed to EQ it via the Sony player just to get it to sound good. The overall sound was "flat" and lifeless. It also sounded...- BryanP

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nuforce uDAC USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
The uDAC is definitely not a bad entry-level DAC to purchase for around 100 bucks if you're looking for an "engaging, upfront" sound as well as portability. I've used mine for 3 months paired with a HifiMan EF2A (mainly running M8100s) and it was fun to listen to. The mids which are very...- BryanP

possible speeding ticket (San Mateo Bridge; Bay Area)
I hope you don't get one. The people I've seen on the bridge that actually got busted for speeding actually got /chased/ by the cops from the bridge after they got caught on the radar (you can see the guy holding it out). I used to drive across the bridge back and fourth when I worked at...- BryanP

Tube installation?
You just put them in by pushing them straight in. You rock it mainly to help loosen it to remove it, but that's pretty much it. There is a chance that channel imbalance can happen with the tubes if one of them is weaker than the other. I have a pair of Sylvanias that weren't matched and the...- BryanP
