Fir Audio Thread - Discussion and Impressions
you I've been using an Eletech Silver cable, which I think it's a good complimentary pairing with XE6. Maintains the bass and thick note weight but I find there is more texture to the bass and the there is good improvement in overall detail retrieval, not that it necessarily needed it. I also...- tfenton02

I've been on a search for a killer set up to bring out a euphoric, lush, yet clear mid range. Digging through everything I have testing different pairings. So far, this is surfacing as amazing one of the best setups for singer songwriter (guitar/piano/male vocal) genre Dita Perputua Code 23...- tfenton02

The sliver cable ended being a too spicy for me. While it seemed to improve resolution I found it sharpened the high end to a point where "s" "t" on vocals got a little. I'll try code 24 next but still enjoying the stock cable- tfenton02

That's my next step, ironically. I have a Dita Celeste silver cable with my Perpetua that I'm going to try tonight with the XE6.- tfenton02

I've enjoyed the XE6 IEM but have struggled with the right pairing to create audio magic. Well, finally, I've created a pairing/settings that creates an amazing euphoric listening experience, that for me pulls the most out of what the XE6 can offer. My daily driver has been the RN6 with AK...- tfenton02

Loving my XE6 CIEM, recently been using the black atom module, with just a great seal on the fit I found this module offered a bit more air and soundstage with sacrificing the monstrous bass!- tfenton02

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
I have both. Onyx comes at you with a big, well textured sub bass, bass, clean mids and treble that is prominent but has zero sharpness. It’s also emotive as you feel the music. I find the Onyx soundstage more out of your head, a bit more expansive. What’s impressive about Onyx is its...- tfenton02

U12t was my first expensive audiophile purchase. At the time, I loved it so much I got a CIEM that everyone now and then I pull out and the tonality is just oh so right. I don't listen to it much, but it's a delight when I do. Technology has changed so much from when this IEM was launched...- tfenton02

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000T
Okay spent some time with my ZMF headphones and both SP3K and Cayin and was pleasantly surprised with the results. My comparison was SP3K vs SP3KT tube and Cayin Classic tube mode. Quick observations: Cayin scaled more, I would say 50% volume gave me all the power I needed however at 75% power...- tfenton02

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000T
I saw the bloom review after I pulled the trigger. I have no WiFi issues with any device in any room and by the pool but the SP3T just is not picking up any resemblance of an acceptable signal. I’ll try a firmware update if there is one. I feel like I’m using a MS/Intel 386 chipset in a PC!- tfenton02

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000T
Cayin N30 LE has plenty of power, tube and SS and would handle rock well. But it’s $$$$. Depending on the headphone I think the SP3000 also would do well. For the record, while I love the Cayin it just doesn’t match the SP3000 soundstage and intricate layering. I can test the caldera with the...- tfenton02

Astell&Kern A&ultima SP3000T
Some quick thoughts after initial listening today. For reference I have the SP3000, Carin N30 LE and purchased the T on a whim. Getting the elephant out on the table, I questioned the “yellow case” but in reality it’s drop dead gorgeous, very elegant. Comments made in tube mode, and...- tfenton02

I played around with both Cayin and AK, here’s what I’m hearing. (I use these DAPs interchangeably) CONTEXT; - Downsize my normal tip size for deeper insertion - JVC Spiral Dot ++ (M) - stock cable - track = CHPTRS/ Marie Hines: You Change Everything (slowed) streamed on Tidal. SP3K -...- tfenton02

SP3000, I sold the 320 Max TI, I did try the Onyx on Cayin N30 LE (classic tube) and felt the AK pairing was better regarding the expansive stage. I will try the N30 SS next.- tfenton02

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!
I have KK, Ronin and Onyx. KK has a great stage (layering), sizzling bass, lush lower mid range but in my ear I do get some sharpness in the upper frequencies. Ronin is lush, technically superior than KK but bass is dialed back. Onyx is my all time fav IEM. Amazing stage, exception sub mid...- tfenton02
