    Fiio Q3 not Enabling Spotify

I am using a Sony NW-ZX507 player. The music files on the player work fine with the amp attached to the player. When switching over to Spotify, I get no sound with the amp. If I bypass the amp and plug straight into the player, Spotify plays fine. Spotify and the Sony are updated to latest...

Original owner, purchased directly from JH Audio in 2014. Been in storage box the last 6-7 years as I upgraded. Original cable shows oxidation but I have never unplugged them off the housings. They work perfect. In all the IEM's I have ever owned, these were the best bang for buck at the $400...

    Westone W80

I have owned the custom ES60 for several years now. Total cured upgraditis till recently. Was looking for crisper high end and slightly larger sound stage. Purchased Mach 80 recently and it ads the high end and sound stage but the sound seems less "full." Using with a non amped Sony NW-ZX507...

Mid to High-End IEM vs vs Low-End Custom CIEM

Go to the top. TF10’s have terrible ergonomics and a very cloudy mid bass. The JH16’s are more holographic than JH5 but they sound similarly tuned. I have had Westone’s ES60’s for almost a year and those are my end game. Fantastic in every area and seem a bit more detailed and less bloated than...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

Yea, there's a tendency for them to come off.  Just try to un-sert them carefully...untwist..or whatever to minimize sticking.  But yes, they should conside a very mild barb of some sort to secure them just a little bit more.   Foam muffles high frequencies, period.   Star trips are...

I find the "star" tips with the compression striations built in the silicone to be a great invention in audio.  IMHO they achieve same bass response as foam but keep the treble frequencies intact.  Trust me..I have experimented plenty but also know that fit is an individual thing.  Just find the...

    Jerry Harvey Audio "JH5"

Anybody own this IEM but me?   To this day in  14 years on HF I think it's still the best $$ for the money I ever spent.  Had them for about 8-9 years now...original cable.  If they ever blew out I'd probably immediately buy another pair.     How Jerry was able to attain such a cohesive...

    Westone W80

WOW!!!  I've been absent for a while but trying to get back in the swing here.....   I apologize if I missed something but are we talking about poor quality craftmanship from faceplates?   I MUST have this wrong or it's it's a joke or something.  It's a faceplate.....it's fixated on the IEM...

    Westone W60 Impressions Thread

Yes.....I got very use to my Pro50 with easy plug and play with no amp.  Detail is all there but soft and laid back.  Bass is insane with tremendous SLAM!  (moreso than SE846 whose bass is closer to W60).  This W60 is SO revealing....so balanced.  Dumbfounded how anyone could pick SE846 over it...

    Westone W60 Impressions Thread

I owned the the W50 for one day and I found the bass to be a hideous mess.  Other than hip hop and rap it will destroy the presentation of any other music you enjoy.  Westones biggest mistake for such an expensive IEM IMHO.  Think back on how people thought how W3 bass was so overblown.  Now...

    Westone W60 Impressions Thread

W60 has quite a bit more bass and a fuller sound.    IE800 has a larger soundstage and (as W60 treble is) much more upper end treble and a freakish amount of detail retreival.  Maybe the best of anything in my dated IEM profile.  Reminded much of the JH13 I had.   I got rid of IE800 because...

    Westone W60 Impressions Thread

Yes, for sure...I have been loving Pro50 for 2 years now and one of it's greates features is it needs no amp.   Literally no improvements amped or unamped IMHO.    Agree...very bassy but SOOOOOOOOOO smooth.   But yes, for the less bass that W60 has it SURELY makes up for it in treble and...

Steven Wilson "The Raven That Refused To Sing"

Anybody familiar with this recording by founding member of Porcupine Tree?   For all practical purposes I sort have lost touch with contemp rock and have been on the contemp jazz track for a while but a friend turned me on to this recordind and I find it sensational.  Every song is different...

    New WESTONE W-SERIES

After almost 2 years and finally have some funding income together (kids college is such a killer!).  No way I can swing $$ for W80 and frankley don't listen enough to justify either but W60 has better detail retreival (than Pro50) and more balanced level (less thick, less lower mid bass) across...

    New WESTONE W-SERIES

Chupacaba - OUTSTANDING REVIEW.   Great contribution to Head-Fi.  Taking your comments after having Pro50 almost 2 years.....and having heard the entire Westone line-up except W80.....I agree 100% emphatically and you lay it out in perfect description...similar to how "twister" does.  ...

    Westone W80

That's interesting.  I thought Twister's review explained a crisper and a bit brighter treble...as a definite change/improvement?  But perhaps that is with stock cable???     Soundstage is pretty big on W60 so I can understand minimal change there.

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

If you are open to using EQ (treble boost), Pro50 is among the greatest I have ever heard.  Going on 2 years as my "go-to" IEM.  It has a heavier bass sound but what separates it from most everything else is:   - extreemly refined high quality driver sound. - very natural organic sound. -...

    Westone UM PRO Series Thread

STOP!  Don't open W50's.  Worst IEM Westone ever made.   Most might think Pro50 is pretty substantial heavy bass.  (It's more than SE836 or W60) but W50 bass is basically double those.  Grossly absurd.  Destroys every other aspect of the W50's presentation so no need to discuss other W50 traits.

    Westone W80

Compare to SE530 or Triple Fi?     Good God!   almost comical.  Only need to get W30 to accomplish that feat.   Sounds like W80 will knock the crap out of JH16 and Layla.....approaching best sound out of any earphone at any price perhaps??   I have to get it.....simply have to get it...

Ialso saw that W80 is louder at same input as W60 so I assume more efficient?   Does this mean W80 does NOT require am amp to realize full potential?  Any moreso or less-so than W60?   Thanks again.   I have been enjoying my Pro50 for almost 20 months now with no upgrades.  I have the itch...
