Are yours SE or balanced cable? I believe this is something related to balanced output(not sure tho). My Sundara stock SE cable don't work for Z1R either, so I am not sure why.

yea it is not possible to use an adapter to make SE cable balanced. I don't know the technical term here, it is like a phone could make z1r loud enough, but clearly phone doesn't sound good. Same thing with the balance on TA. And from my understanding amp power has more things to do rather...

you have to try balanced, TA doesn't have enough power on SE to drive the Z1R with the stock cable the difference is night day.

It does sound bit harsh with the original cable on my thx amp, TA is bit better but still there. With sony Kimber the harsh is basically gone. My silver Norne cable will arrive tomorrow, wait and see how that will goes:)

Which Lavri Grand you got? the solid core or strand? It seems I can get them way quicker than Norne. Trevor never replies my email.

How is your Norne cable with z1r? and which model is that? I am actually looking at Norne. Did some search on silver cable DIY is not much cheaper. I may just save the time and get one from Norne.

For the price difference, I can accept some change on quilty. I got it for 200USD new. And this is not very experience for an upgrade cable either. but as it is sony I do expect more, at least the squeaking should not happen.

I can't return it, unfortunately. I am thinking of making a new cable myself. Had some experience of soldering, so it shouldn't be too hard? Not sure I should do a full sliver or copper-silver hybrid. I do quite like the sound change from a full copper(Sony Kimber) so far. but just wonder if...
