Can 100% relate to you here on the TC, with a tuning that deserves the wonky description more than any other. Wildly inconsistent in bass (you have to choose between sub-bass and impact, can't achieve both) and mids, even from session to session if the fit is disturbed at all. I sold it for that...

I haven't heard the Verite Open sound better than from the GT. Especially with the SIL994 at volume stage, the mids are brought more forward which helps the slightly recessed mids on the Verite (my only quibble with this headphone). The soundstage is so open and wide, and the tuning is perfect IMO

Compared to meze silver plated cable (not the more expensive upgrade cable they offer, haven't heard that one), the stock cable suffers some image smearing between the mids and treble, and stereo width seems noticeably less wide. Maybe these two phenomena are the exact same thing, who knows...

Haven't had an issue with pad deterioration. I've only found that the pad seams migrate a few mm over time so that they're less aligned with the foam underneath
