Interesting. In a general note I'd say these ER3xx have slightly less consistency (based on very limited samples tested) than the ER4(XR) I had the pleasure to use for 6 months. But once you have a good one it should last consistently.

Sorry, but what do you mean? I think Apple Lossless across the board is pretty simple and neat, and relatively open (!) and compatible cross-platforms.
