Bose QuietComfort 35 II still a good choice?

@yong_shun Yeah, like you said it's indeed subjective. Price wise there is no comparison because I can't find the Sony ones discounted (so €380 here in Belgium vs €299). Call me lazy but I think I'll just stay with Bose because that's what I'm used to. Still, I really appreciate your answers...

Bose QuietComfort 35 II still a good choice?

Hello all, I'm a long time Bose QuietComfort 15 user and was wondering if it's still a good choice to upgrade to the 35 II? Where I live it's currently on sale (€299 vs €379) and it's tempting to buy it. I've been following the noise cancellation headphones space sporadically but I understand...

COMPARISON / REVIEW (Part Deux) : A tale of two Sennheisers – HD600 vs HD650

I did test both but I also tested the DT 880 and 990. In the end I had to conclude that I still prefer my QC15's over the other four. I have a preference for good bass and the tested headphones did not have that kind of bass level.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Well, thank you for trying to convince me to buy the QC35 but that's not really what I want to do. I'm looking for a good headphone to use at home (with preferable better sound quality then the Bose headphones, though as already explained earlier, they're already very good). So, I'm not looking...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Yes, indeed. They mention this in the support article as well. Well then, another mystery solved ;-) There's no reason to go with the 600 ohm version I suppose (unless you're really into it)?

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Hmm, strange then. But it does look the same as the Edition?

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Now I know why I couldn't find almost nothing about the Premiums, they simply do not exist (source). They're in fact called Edition. Some people say the Edition (or Premium  ) is more comfortable to wear and has a slightly less bass reproduction but still enough.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

I've done some more research and it seems like there isn't supposed to be a difference in sound quality, only the aesthetics are different (regarding to this website). I'm also having a really hard time finding the Premium version, all I can find is the Pro version.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Thanks again for the detailed explanation. I know I keep adding amps to the already long list but yesterday I found this one, the JDS Labs Objective2. It looks like JDS Labs is one of the dealers but you have more since it's an open source project. Maybe it would be better to update my amp...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

If you want to see the full specifications, you can find them here. As for the two amps, the thing I'm most afraid of is that some reviewers claim that you can hear some kind of hiss (not necessarily on those but more on the cheaper amps in general). I also ordered both the 600 and 650 to try...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

I discovered yet another "cheap" amp/dac product, the Schitt Fulla 2. For $99 it seems like you're getting a very nice package. Hmm, not sure what to choose.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

I just checked the specifications of the FiiO E10K Olympus 2 and it looks like it's not the ideal amp to use with the listed headphones here because its maximum drive power is only 150 Ω.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Yeah, kind of. You can still use it with other devices as well but it's very compact. You can see it here. The normal retail price is $295, so it's a nice deal.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Okay, that's something to keep in mind. But maybe I'll be happy with the overall sound quality of the Sennheisers. I should try them and see if I like them or not. I thought it was a simple comparison but I understand what you're saying. Maybe I'll just go with those, they look good to me...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

That's maybe the primary reason why I want to upgrade, to get a better overall sound quality. I know it's not the way how you should do it but currently I'm using the Bass Enhancer feature of Windows. It does help to get some more bass out of your headphones. Well, I looked again and I looked...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

That's correct, though they are a bit pricey for me. I'll lower my budget a bit because, on second thought, €500 seems a bit excessive to me (considering that I don't listen that much to music). I would rather spend a fair bit less on headphones so I have money left to invest in an amp...

Thanks for giving your opinion, I'll add it to the list :) Do you mind sharing which amp you're using?

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Interesting! So you would actually recommend the DT990 Premiums over a HD600 or 650? You also need to amp them right? I started looking at some amp setups and it seems like the Schiit Modi/Magni combo is a good deal. Though I also read positive reviews about Fiio products.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

It seems like it's a very though choice between the 600 and 650 according to this thread. It seems like the 600 is much more clearer while the 650 has some more bass to it. The reviewer actually recommends the Beyerdynamic T1 if you mainly listen to electronic music but they're a bit too...

COMPARISON / REVIEW (Part Deux) : A tale of two Sennheisers – HD600 vs HD650

I'm having the same problem as some of the posters here, which one to buy? I listen mostly to electronic music so I would probably go for the 650's. But ... is there even a point in buying these if you're not using an amplifier? I'm currently using QC15's and they sound fine to me (since I...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Well, then they're going back into consideration  So this means that they're pretty balanced headphones then? Like you said earlier, it's best to try a couple of headphones and then decide which one I like the most. Yeah, they're still perfectly working apart from the ear cups that are...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

I see, so the HD650 series are not for me then. The LCD-2 you're talking about is from Audeze right? I know the price is way higher than my budget limit but how would you describe the sound? So like stated by cossix, if you're not using an amp they're rather useless? Okay, so they're out of...

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

I see, thanks for clarifying. Do you know anything about the quality of V-Moda headphones? I don't have a particularly preference for them though, I just saw them listed in a spreadsheet document on Reddit and they look cool. Apparently they're build very well.

    Upgrading from Bose QC15

Thank you for the detailed answer, obobskivich, I really appreciate that. What you're saying about Bose is correct, it seems like every reviewer 'hates' Bose. Good to hear that they actually are quite good (again, I don't have a reference point). So I'll probably keep the QC15's then for when...
