Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
My iMac is connected via usb to a Parasound P6 Preamplifier for enjoyment of high res Apple Music. The sound is more lifelike than any other means I have to recorded music except 5.1 SACD. My hope is to get an Apple TV and connect it to a Dolby ATMOS Receiver like one of the new Sony’s so I can...- Sterling2

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
I am going to attempt Apple Music’s Spatial Audio via Apple TV connected to my OPPO-205 in PrePro role feeding a multi-channel Sony TA-P9000ES analog preamplifier. The OPPO will decode Dolby ATMOS but since the Sony zpresmp is just 5.1 the ATMOS channels will end up coming from front channels...- Sterling2

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
These days Apple Music seems to deliver AAC and ALAC files which I cannot distinguish from SACD, so for now I am quite satisfied with Apple Music from an M1 iMAC to Parasound 2.1 Preamplifier via usb.- Sterling2

What is the sound quality of iPhone, iPad, iPod (Touch)?
Yep, all of my Apple Music devices sound great but the best is from iMac M1 outputting to my Parasound P6 2.1 Preamplifier/DAC, very lifelike at any volume.- Sterling2

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
In reality you are divorced from reality, since from day one in the history of recorded music lifelike has always been the goal.- Sterling2

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
Of course, electronic music is not considerable in terms such as lifelike. I thought those on this forum would have enough intelligence to know that without need to quality it. Now, for acoustic and vocal recordings who would not want an impression of lifelike?- Sterling2

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
For streaming analog (AAC, MP3, audiobooks, Internet music streams, etc.) from a Mac to an AirPort Express base station (AX), iTunes does most of the work: iTunes decompresses those file formats and creates what's essentially a raw, uncompressed audio stream. That stream is then compressed...- Sterling2

FLAC vs. 320 Mp3
What we all want from any recorded music is lifelike sound. And technology has moved on now to Apple Music Lossless and Hi-Res streaming for sound that really is lifelike when processed by a contemporary DAC. In other words, this thread is kind of meaningless for anyone routing Apple Music via...- Sterling2

MQA Deep Dive - I published tracks on Tidal to test MQA
It's been a disaster for Tidal. When claims about MQA from MQA and Tidal were disproven it discredited both entities and now since CD and Hi-Res is streamed by most services, MQA technology is no longer relevant. This means MQA is indeed dead and Tidal has been so discredited its reasonable that...- Sterling2

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
O.K., so the TC28i adapter Lightning to usb-c will serve to deliver Hi-Res from my iPhone 7+ to my Parasound P6 Preamplifier's usb DAC input, is that right? I can buy this device on Amazon for about $28.- Sterling2

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
I am enjoying Apple Lossless via iTunes running on a 7+ iPhone connected to Airport Express, which is connected to my Parasound P6 preamp's DAC.. Of course, the Airport Express down samples the up to 24/48 streams to 16/44.1. To enjoy 24/192 I will need to connect my iPhone to the Parasound via...- Sterling2

MQA Deep Dive - I published tracks on Tidal to test MQA
I used to buy multi-channel music from Acoustic Sounds in FLAC format because foobar 2000 will play it. It was a hassle. A lot of clicks to get the files to the player and then driver configuration to get files via HDMI to OPPO. From music purchase to music playback about 27 clicks as I recall...- Sterling2

Apple Music Now with lossless high-res and spatial audio
I think I am good to go: for Spatial Audio I have now connected my laptop via HDMI to my OPPO-205 which processes Dolby ATMOS and outputs to my 5.1 analog preamp. The laptop has been configured in sound control panel to Dolby ATMOS. For lossless, I have connected my laptop via usb to my...- Sterling2

How to stop foobar from downmixing 6 ch to stereo?
Operating system is Windows 10. Sound setting is output to OPPO HDMI. Output in foobar is to OPPO HDMI. Still no 6 channel output, just stereo. The files are showing in properties as 6 channel and before I deleted them from C drive they did indeed play in 6 channel from foobar.- Sterling2
