Newbie question : Anyone tired "Coldheat" soldering kits?
Hi I am wondering if anyone has tried the "coldheat" soldering kits? It looks interesting, but I am not sure if it is just some marketing BS or it really works. Thank you. http://www.coldheat.com/products.php- MoLtoSoLo

Reevaluated my opinion of the 96/8 PAD
I think at the price, RME 96/8 PAD is really a bargain. It is unfair to ask a $300 soundcard to do everything. I am using it with dAck DAC and Monarchy SuperDrive DIP, the result is very good.- MoLtoSoLo

I need a new computer....
If you have a monitor and programs already, I would recommand a Dell 400SC from the business department. It's around $300~ 400 and got almost everything you need. The case is very quiet, a big plus.- MoLtoSoLo

digital cable for Ack! dAck!
Sean H, I couldn't agree with you more. I got my dAck DAC unit for almost 2 month now, I love it. There is just something magic in the sound, and I couldn't describe it better than you. The DIP sure does some wonder to the music. I got the Super Drive version because of the true 75ohm output. -
Speaker upgrade for Megaworks
Try Polk R15 speakers. Circuitcity got them for $~80. I think it is an amazing bargain. -

my speakers ship tomorrow!
The speaker looks interesting, let us know if it got enough bass -
Wow! After reading this thread, I know what amp I'm going to buy in the future!
I am sure a full digital rug until the speaker is the future. But I don't think we are there quite yet, I will give the new technology another year or two before I jump in. And Panny is going to launch a new Digi amp and a CD/SACD player in summer. Let's see how much better it is than the XR45... -

Flac APE or WAV whats the best?
If you want a good and fast CD/DVD unit, get a top model of Plextor. I am using Lite-On CD-Rom, it gets the job done.- MoLtoSoLo

I just got blown away by my 96/8 pad
The Digital Audio Labs Card Deluxe used to be a great soundcard. But the company couldn't write a good driver for Windows 2000 or XP even now. How about some custom break out cable? Shouldn't be too hard to do it if we can find the 9 pin plug.- MoLtoSoLo

I just got blown away by my 96/8 pad
By the way, could the poor measurement result on the stereophile caused by the stock break out cable? Any thoughts? Also last time Lan pointed out that not every soundcards' optical is better than its COAX output. So could someone suggest a soundcard with a great COAX digital output? Thank you.- MoLtoSoLo

I still think the RME is an outstanding value. At first I though it was a bit too bright, too dry. But now I feel it's just perfect. Maybe it's the burn-in, maybe it's me, and I just love it.- MoLtoSoLo
