A DVD upscale’d to 4K is a bit better than 4K streamed. A blu-ray upscale’d is significantly better. A 4K disc is even better and very impressive. A Blu-ray Disc you own will stick around for as long as you are willing to keep it =).

Remember that the Schiit multi bit DACs use “off the shelf chips” as well. Just a very different shelf and no standard white paper implementation (in an audio jewelry case at a car price).

You need balanced cables to run your Aegir’s or Vidar’s mono. If you have a hardware balanced DAC like the Yggdrasil or Gungnir why would you not use balanced cables?

For my ears stereo subs located close to the mains are required to make the crossover frequencies sound good.

I do not think Mike has many regrets particularly regarding what he says. He calls it like he sees it. Jason on the other hand may have a few regrets over what Mike says =). Mike and “marketing” do not go well together.

Mike M has called the balanced outputs on the Bifrost 2 “cheap ass balanced.” The internal design is single ended not hardware balanced like the Gungnir multibit and Yggdrasil. Does any one have a comparison between the Bifrost 2 and the Gungnir multi? Particularly the balanced outs?
