@RobWatts There have been a few posts now on head-fi referring to a future ultima range DAC and many relating to the expected choral x-scaler. I would like to know whether there will be an additional scaler in the ultima range to accompany the ultima DAC please.

My apologies. I did not read carefully enough (but I think the B&W nomenclature is easy to misread). I was thinking of the 805D4 when I quoted the price of £7k.

Sounds much too high price for 803D4. UK price is £7k ~ 11.7k CAD. When I bought the 803D3, I got a good deal on a demo pair. I was planning to use them with a power amp but found the sound very much better direct than with my Cyrus amp (that I had previously liked) which was already a few years...

Although I was avidly awaiting the arrival of DX amplifiers when I acquired DAVE a few years ago, I have been extremely happy with the sound of DAVE directly driving B&W 805D3's with DB3 sub. As my room would not easily accommodate larger speakers, I would now be interested to try the 805D4 but...

If you're using DAVE with MScaler, the idea that 0.5m could be better than 1m is very strange indeed

I remain very pleased with DAVE directly driving B&W 805D3s and DB3D sub. Transparency is wonderful. Quite loud enough with plenty of bass for organ music. Won't reach Triode's levels of sound pressure but unless Rob comes up with his digital amps that seemed a lot closer when I bought DAVE 2...

I, too, deprecate vitriol but was impressed by the improvement in sound from the ferrited cables as suggested by Jawed. In my case I used 1m rather than 2m but was quite surprised by the improvement I heard.

Another user of DAVE + HMS - I find there is a wonderful improvement in the sound with HMS especially in older redbook material but in general, it is difficult to predict which recordings will benefit most from the HMS effect. In my case, I use the DAVE direct to speakers - B&W 805D3 with DB3D sub.

Recently ordered DAVE and hoping to use eventually with new Chord digital power amp when available. I was wondering could Rob or colleague comment on potential subwoofer use with the new amplifier - I presume a subwoofer connected to DAVE's analogue output would not be suitable?   Andrew
