24bit vs 16bit, the myth exploded!
As a newbie, I was quite confused because often the phrases, "24-bit" and "resolution", are used together. I later learned that the bit depth is indicative of the dynamic range, and not finer-grained resolution of a static loudness range. Hopefully, we can have a thread on popular Hi-Fi...- Arnav Agharwal

Implementing in an add-on would make sense since a lot of users would not want to bear the burden of licensing fees for a technology they don't need.- Arnav Agharwal

FYI. From the Poly thread. Sounds like something is going on. Note that I'm only referring to MQA support as a feature here and do not intent to trigger a debate about the technology itself; to do that, please visit the relevant thread...- Arnav Agharwal

But Roon can do one layer of "unfolding" at best, just like any other software like TIDAL. The second iteration must be implemented in the DAC, at least that's what the MQA specs entail.- Arnav Agharwal

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
I've seen only positive reviews for these cables. But compared to DHC's much more expensive offerings, would these sound "inferior" in any way? Or is DHC over-priced?- Arnav Agharwal

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
Thank you, gentlemen The website lists $2499-something for the Platinum speaker wires, but I'd expect those to have a much thicker gauge. Wasn't sure what that would translate to for headphones.- Arnav Agharwal

Yeah, I meant using Roon as a workaround to stream offline TIDAL content without Internet connectivity. @rkw's link is helpful. While it states that the desktop app disallows offline content (I'm on Linux and can only use the Web player on Chrome), there isn't information about mobile use.- Arnav Agharwal

Thank you! I don't have a Dave yet, but planning to acquire one within a year. I simply wish to avoid going through a cycle of cable upgrades. Would you happen to know how much a Platinum headphone cable costs? It isn't clear from the WyWires website.- Arnav Agharwal

Double Helix Cables Thread
I was pretty much set on purchasing DHC Complement4 Flagship for my Ether C Flows, but this inconsistency in delivery times has been quite a turn-off. I see all these glowing reviews, and wonder how much uncertainty and hassle I will have to go through between the time I place and order the the...- Arnav Agharwal

I'm not sure how much tech will be "given out". Rob Watts has been open-minded about MQA, which he wouldn't be otherwise. There are some comparisons in the TIDAL MQA thread around this post: http://www.head-fi.org/t/831291/ces-2017-mqa-announces-tidal-masters-and-more/360#post_13209704 ...- Arnav Agharwal

I will obviously choose the better DAC, and I will obviously miss the music quality that I'm not getting because of it. I will still purchase Hugo 2. And I will be sad. That's why I'm asking Chord. Help.- Arnav Agharwal

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
Proof of the pudding is in the eating. The idea is sound, but taking into account our poor short-term audio memory, comparing cables over a 30 minute listening session won't be helpful in deciding which one has the best signature; it will help deciding which ones are bad, though. Finding a...- Arnav Agharwal

That was before Universal joined the bandwagon. While I didn't care much for it earlier, now I'm afraid that the community will be strong-armed into having high quality recordings being made available for streaming only through MQA. In that case, a $2200+ investment will end up with restricted...- Arnav Agharwal

Thank you, gentlemen. I'm having a hard time figuring out which brand to go with -- Wywires, Nordost Norne, Double Helix. While I believe that MQA is not responsible for the higher SQ of TIDAL Masters, I'm confident (and afraid) that Warner + Universal will succeed in shoving it down our throats. At this point, unless MQA support can be enabled through a software update, I may have to reconsider my Hugo 2...- Arnav Agharwal
