Lightning to USB-C - For Audeze and other lightning headphones
How exactly does this work? Lightning headphones need a built-in dac, right? So it’s the lightning sac that’s used?- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
Have to side with choisan on this. I asked Fitear about it before. Not possible. Very Japanese! They already make all those cables so it is weird. But I'm a Westerner and one thing I learned is Japan is Japan :) Personally I hate waste. Spending money doesn't bother me but buying something...- lostman

Astell&Kern XB10 Extreme Bluetooth Adapter
I was wondering whether it would be possible to buy a custom cable that would be short enough so I could keep the adapter attached to the collar. While it might look a little bit weird it should be quite convenient. Any ideas who could make such cable?- lostman

Just saw that these come with Bluetooth cable! That's pretty cool! However, the player supports aptX HD but the bluetooth cable does not. That's unfortunate since I've seen them sold as bundle- lostman

JVC Bluetooth neckband MMCX cable with K2 technology
I saw it show up on Japanese websites recently: http://www.e-earphone.jp/shopdetail/000000158841 It looks interesting! I'd like some confirmation whether K2 upscaling is actually worth something before I'd buy one though. Synthetic leather neckband and braided cables are a nice touch. I wonder...- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
I again wonder what the impact of better source would be. First time I listened with my phone, Nexus 5X, which is generally rather bad but works OK with some efficient earphones. The second time I brought my laptop but didn't have any external DAC/AMP. The impression Air 2 left on me then was...- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
AnakChan: it's interesting that you say Air 2 has bass weight. That's completely opposite to my impression. It sounded good enough to derail my plan to purchase MH335DW but couldn't get myself to drop 160K JPY due to lack of bass. I went back and forth and compared it to my favorite non-custom...- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
I tried FitEar Air 2 yesterday. If I understood correctly it has 2 dynamic drivers and 1 BA. I only had my phone with me which is a poor source but I tried that phone with a number of earphones so I have some baseline. For instance I tried Titan before and it sounded deep and impactful. I had...- lostman

Is it possible to get a different cable when ordering? I would've impulse-bought the FitEar Custom but I really didn't like the 005 cable. 006 costs the same and I like it a lot but there's no option to chose.- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
Are they doing the shorter stem on all models? That's one of the things that makes me really interested in FitEar. The universal version of Custom (Universal Custom? Custom Universal? :P) was actually surprisingly comfortable. My ears hate almost everything but that one was really good. I think...- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
I haven't seen Aya in real life but it doesn't look flimsy in the photos (probably due to opaque shells). I think the only 3D printed CIEMs I've seen are Ultimate Ears and they do look flimsy. Oh and 64audio and they look a bit better but the 3D printed shell still looks quite thin. I wonder if...- lostman

The FitEar CIEM Impressions Thread
I was thinking about getting a FitEar earphones for a long time now but I just can't get over the fact they don't disclose driver configuration! Two have caught my interest: FitEar Custom because it's a shallower fit which might be more comfortable and FitEar Aya because it's 3D printed (better...- lostman

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
I'm somewhat optimistic given that it's their *second* product. Good rule of thumb is to never buy the first one! I can't recall an example where the first version would get stellar reviews. "Good but needs work" is probably the best you can hope for. Fingers crossed.- lostman

Sony announces the "Just ear" brand of custom IEMs
I had a chance to briefly try the Just Ear series. There were three versions, Monitor, Listen and Club. I think Monitor sounded the best. Overall I liked them a lot. My music was from Tidal (flac) but was playing it from my phone Nexus 5X which isn't great. One problem was that the highs were...- lostman

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
One useful feature I can see is to use LDAC. AFAK neither Mac OS nor Windows supports it so using the DAP as transmitter might actually be pretty cool. Now if somebody made a IEM cable that supports LDAC (Sony has this neckband style thing)... Maybe PLUSSOUND will make one (they have AptX but...- lostman

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
There was an interesting set of earphones that had ear-hook design and were targeted at sporty audience. But I can't find it right now. They had Kickstarter or Indiegogo recently. Truly wireless and the "trick" was that the part behind the earlobe would be magnetically attracted to the part in...- lostman

Ok, so according to the manual (for A-35), one selects the language (and date format) by holding power button for 3 seconds. I haven't tried that. So maybe... Will have to go back and have another look- lostman
