Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Having had the opportunity to listen to Odin, I can very comfortably say that it definitely fills all of the voids that anyone could potentially find in the Zeus or the Wraith (which are also amazing IEMs). I have a bias obviously, but it's only a few days. I don't think anyone here will be...- Seth Warshavsky

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
Along with Deezel, I heard an early prototype of one of the EE models and my jaw actually dropped. It was unlike any IEM I have ever heard, and I own over 35 CIEMs. That being said it was an early version, but I think we are all in for a very pleasant surprise. If you have just purchased an...- Seth Warshavsky

Hi Aleksandar Thanks for your help, for DACs we're using a Yggdrasil and a PS Audio Directstream, and we have them both paired with Headamp GSX MK2s as preamps. Thanks much Seth- Seth Warshavsky

I am setting the AHB2 at all gain levels and setting the pre on high, which should give it a 20 DB output and listening at what sounds to be the same volume to me. Should I set the AHB2 to a gain that I can actually get it to clip at volume reasonably louder than the NAD than roll back the...- Seth Warshavsky

Yes, tried it all. That's why I'm trying to ask someone that has them how much burn-in is required. They may just require substantial burn-in. I agree it's strange.- Seth Warshavsky

Well I really want to know if the AHB2 improves dramatically with burn in too or if a single is just not enough, because out of the box the M22 V2 is sounding substantially better to me (far more resolving with better dynamics), and I don’t think that should be the case. It has me quite...- Seth Warshavsky

I want to know how much the AHB2 improve with burn-in, if anyone has first-hand knowledge, and if one should drive the SR1A well or if I really need 2?- Seth Warshavsky

Are you guys all running them as monoblocks or as a single in stereo? I'm running it single in stereo, do you think I need a second one?- Seth Warshavsky

Did your AHB2's improve a lot with burn-in? They aren't doing it for me. Not sure why.- Seth Warshavsky

The M22 V2 has to be on High Gain or it sounds dull and lifeless, but once you put it on High Gain it really sounds very good. My AHB2 is in customs now so I’ll compare tomorrow, but if you try the M22 definitely use High Gain. S- Seth Warshavsky

We've actually found the Vidars to be an excellent value and to drive the SR1A very well (they actually sound better than a lot of the amps we have tested), but one of their flaws is they tend to break up a bit when listening to more complex tracks, We're now experimenting with the Benchmark...- Seth Warshavsky

Sorry about that LOL, at least the Vidar are inexpensive. You definitely will not be disappointed if you do. I think you can demo the SR1A as well. They really are the most incredible headphones I have ever heard.- Seth Warshavsky

I already answered that the PS Audio Directstream is a better DAC, but in this situation the difference in the quality of the DAC was a fairly insignificant matter compared to the quality of the amplification (and the synergy of the amplification with the SR1A). I apologize if my response...- Seth Warshavsky

You know what, I take it back there is a 5%-15% restocking fee depending on the condition of the return. So keep them like new, and the test will cost you 35 USD per Vidar. S- Seth Warshavsky

They are fully refundable for 15 days, no one should need to ask anything else. It's simply a 700 or 1400 USD credit card charge. Do yourself a favor and try them. After you do that, the rest of the thread makes sense. S- Seth Warshavsky

6moons is an audiophile publication with unlimited amplification at their disposal. They did not try the Vidar at all. I'm sure the amps they suggest sound incredible. I am simply stating out of the 20 or so amps I tested including the Bryston 3B3, that the Schiit Vidar sounded better in my (and...- Seth Warshavsky

One Vidar sounds very good. Two of them just has a lot more power. Honestly, I would spend 700 USD buy one, you will love the sound.. and see if you want more power. If you do, spring for the second! S- Seth Warshavsky

I am not googling it but by memory the HE9 is a headphone amp the SR1A needs a speaker amp that outputs at least 100 better 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms, so you would need a different kind of amp for your SR1A. The most affordable and best sounding I have found is the Schiit Vidar 699 USD and...- Seth Warshavsky

I’m saying that both systems sound excellent with the SR1A. I am partial to the PS Audio DAC but there is not a substantial audible difference when you are playing flac files with the SR1A. This thread is about what works well with the SR1A and I think the key factor is amplification, switching...- Seth Warshavsky
