I’ve had to send my u12ts back for cable cut-offs on both sides now. Kind of a hassle, but I love ‘em...

I wouldn’t say an RC350 is entirely without merit or sports bona fides - 230kw... but well built yes. https://www.lexus.com.au/models/rc/overview

I have the universal versions of these, and these for me are “end game”. I do get the straight A student analogy, but straight out excellence is a characteristic that I’ve been chasing since getting into this hobby(I think we all are!). One review on headfi spoke about the Lid tech, being...

Well, don’t forget you asked..! I’ve experienced repeated failures of the MMCX connectors on my W80s. The first one Westone were kind enough to replace - though I bought it second hand on headfi. The second time, I haven’t gone back, in large part because I believe it would just happen again...

    Westone W60 Impressions Thread

Hi guys / anyone, I wish to convert my w80s into a CIEM. Does anyone know a good outfit to use? I’m not that concerned about cost, good reputation matters more to me. I would have used InEarz, but looking at their site, it didn’t look like they do this service anymore...

Yeah, the metal faceplates rock. They are “the cure” that all W60s need IMO.

Wow, you’re in Toronto - I was born there! Eons ago - I’ve lived in Australia since I was 7. I would check out that Tokyo store. I’m interested in some of the Asian brands that we don’t see much. I am super lucky though - because I’m maybe 10 minutes away from Minidisc in Chatswood in...

My read is these are more “musical”, more rock n’ roll than “balanced” - the latter I tend to think of as linear, with basically the bass side of things dialled down and relatively more emphasis on the mid to highs. So everything sounds “clear and fast”. The ultimate reference is probably Shure...

I’m based in Sydney, and often purchased from headfiers in the States. Even waiting 5 or 7 days just eats me up. Well done! I’m sure yours will be amazing. Hopefully they get that first fit right, so it’s a done deal. Gorgeous listening experience. I never remember even K10s I’ve had, bring as...

Universals / always. I’d love have enough patience for CIEMs... but I keep proving to myself that I don’t!

Just bought the 16v2 today. A bit early to have a balanced view I guess. Man i love the warmth and range of bass though - it’s crazy. After a pretty depressing W80 experience in terms of manufacturing quality - everything about this feels premium. I feel like I stepped out of a 20 year old...

    Westone W80

Yeah, I genuinely can’t praise the UmPro50 too much. People forget that fundamentally it was designed to sound (drivers and all) to sound like the ES5 or ES50 CIEM. While my W80 was out of action I was happily listening to my UmPro50 with a silver cable... just killer. I think it stomps many...

    Westone W80

Thought I’d add on a postscript to this. In an act of unbelievable generosity, Westone replaced my W80 with the contact issue, with a brand new pair. They didn’t have to. I know it, they know it. But they did anyway. They wanted to stand behind their flagship and drill down to see what the...

Bought it from another person on the forum. Unlikely Westone would honour, as legally they wouldn't have to. Clearly less than 2 years old as the W80 hasn't existed for 2 years yet...

    Westone W80

Having the same issue with my W80 - left earpiece. No helmets in my case. Swapped back the epic cable and same result. Tried the o-ring, no good. I'll try to find a version of the Oxit in the Australian market. It does work intermittently if I push the cable "just so". So it's a contact issue...

Trying to envision how that works for all the custom “long term samples”... the mechanics of accomplishing this is like completing a Rubex Cube... whilst blindfolded. Honestly, you earn your long term samples - I don’t begrudge them one bit - only the terminology.

I think with the missing cable the answer is less sinister, they liked the cable, but were less impressed with the W80 itself.

    Westone W80

I feel the need to pop my head up and shout out some praise to the W80. I've given Westone a "Proper Bollocking" as the English like to say, regarding the W60 faceplates. However, the W80 does appear to have (finally) corrected the issue. I find the W80 has been a substantial upgrade for the...

Review by 'jgosroc' on item 'Westone W60 Signature Series 6-Driver Universal-fit In-ear Headphones'

I wrote a somewhat controversial article read by 4 people called “a sojourn through middle class iems”. There I discussed a series of Noble and Westone iems being: 1. Noble 5/Dulce Bass; 2. Westone UmPro50; 3. Noble 6; 4. Westone W60; 5. Noble Savant. It was a freewheeling article discussing...

Review by 'jgosroc' on item 'Westone umPro50'

What’s impressive about the Westone UmPro50, is…. a hell of a lot. It's the legendary ES50, removing the custom bit, and replacing it with a universal shell so light and comfortable that it almost makes custom fitting irrelevant. Oh, and you can pick up a pair for $350, second-hand. Most sellers...
