    Same crappy pads...

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

I am going to listen to them for a while, now that they don't cause pain, and may also bite the bullet on the Dekoni Elite pads if they are not as boomy.

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Are you saying that the Ananda is much better? Ananda is open planar, this one is closed dynamic. You should compare the Ananda to the T1 or the DT1990, not to this.

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

Here are a couple of photos of the T5p Gen 2 with the Brainwavz Round XL Sheepskin pads. Comfort was increased at least 16 times with these, compared to the stock pads. Interestingly enough, the headband still hurts after 30-40 minutes of usage. Sound was a little muffled with the fabric of...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Hahah. Yeah, that's also an option, but you have to make sure the solder job is not visible, because it's not very "fashionable". :D

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

They did not approve a refund on those? That's a bummer... I guess you can sell them for what they are. DT770's. :)

Congratulations. Pads will still benefit you, though. :) What happened with the crappy pair?

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

I think he was commenting, because your reply implies cutting the stock pads, where he suggests cutting the aftermarket pads. :)

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

No. Not crazy about them. They are built great. Very premium, but the sound was just a bit....unexciting. They had detail and if the pads are switched, the may have more soundstage and bass, but out of the box they did not impress me. They were just....good. Maybe if they were 30-40% off - yes...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

In my case - Yes. It was a huge issue and a huge inconvenience, considering that I paid an import tax that I can’t get back. If you are in the US, returns are much easier and I would give them a shot. :) Nothing to lose.

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

Go check out the reviews for the DT177x on Drop’s page. I have added one (latest one atm) describing my experience with them and comparing the headphones to the Neumanns and the Elegia. And also the T5p. Let me know here if you have additional questions after reading that and I’ll answer to the...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

I am sorry to say but this is not the DT1770 Driver. This here is the driver that was in the DT177X and I am 99% sure that the same driver should be in the DT1770 Pro. Notice the blue rim and the 2 white slots. This is where the cable is connected. No soldering required. It's a plug-and-play...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

The drivers on the DT770 and the DT1770 should be different. Open them up and post photos. I've disassembled the DT177X several times while I was trying to find an issue with a rattle, so I can spot the DT177X/1770 driver. Let me know if you needs steps on how to do it. Actually, I already...

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions

I've not heard the DT1770 Pro, but have experience with the Drop variant. The DT177X. You can check some graphs to see the changes between the two. Looks like the difference is mainly in the top end. And here is the Sheepskin vs the velour. As you can see, the pads even out the low end...

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

The DT177X became proper after changing the stock velour pads with the included Dekoni Sheepskin ones. With the stock ones - it was bad. Very bad. No seal with the velours = no bass. The soundstage became wider with the included thicker replacement leather pads. Maybe this is why you find the...

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

Well. Mine tortures me so I will show no mercy! :) ---------------- After a week of listening to them they are still very uncomfortable for me. I have to tuck my ears inside the pads in order for the pads to not press on my ears. After all, these are over-ear headphones and not on-ear. After...

    New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

These (Dekoni Choice Leather) seem to be the same pads that Drop put on the DT177X and those were super comfortable! :) And they isolated pretty well. I just got my T5p today after 2 pairs of DT177X failed on me... I still can't judge the sound properly, because they are painful to wear! The...

    Beyerdynamic DT177X Alternatives?

I read that they are a little sterile/clinical. Have you had the chance to compare them to any of the ones I've mentioned? Yeah. It seems that the DT 177X inherited the driver rattle issues from the DT 1770 Pro. So annoying! And I liked them so much.. I don't really care about looks so the...

    Beyerdynamic DT177X Alternatives?

Hi everyone, As the title suggests, I am looking for an alternative to the DT177X Go mainly in the way they sound. Closed back, since I will be using them at the office. I use them with a FiiO K5 Pro and listen to a lot of genres of music. Ambient, Chill-out, Trance, House, Progressive...

popping noise when i turn on computer, goes away when i play something

This sounds like a driver problem from the very beginning. I do not have a DAC myself, so I am not sure if those are plug-and-play or use some kind of drivers. If they don't need drivers, maybe next time try a live CD of Ubuntu and see if the problem with your equipment persists?

    Headphones For Movie Watching Recommendation

After some reading, I bit the bullet and got the Philips X2s. People say that they are night and day with the Q701 like sound signature, so I hope that I will be able to enjoy and keep both, since I very much like the Q701 for non-bassy genres of music.   After I ordered, I found out that...

    Headphones For Movie Watching Recommendation

Thank you for your input. I guess I will go for the X2. I can always sell it at a small loss if I don't like it. I do enjoy the Q701 a lot as long as there is no sub-bass necessary. Instrumentals, live performances, ambient, chill-out sound amazing! There was a FLAC of Petra Magoni - Eleanor...

    Headphones For Movie Watching Recommendation

Thank you both for the replies. Would the X2s classify as a complete Q701 replacement in your opinion? The Q701s are still new and I pretty much like them, except the lack of bass.   Also, are there any options that come to mind other than the Fidelio X2? I pretty much like the open...

    Headphones For Movie Watching Recommendation

Hi everyone,   so I have the Q701 for about a month now and I love the detail and soundstage on those. They are great for most music genres, but the lacking bass is a bit problematic for me, even with the "bass mod" (I did it in the very beginning, but I don't really notice any difference)...
