Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA
Just wanted to post my positive experience with service with Warwick. I had purchased my Bravura from a local seller and had been enjoyed it greatly for the last year or so. I was taking it down to a local meetup earlier this year and something got damaged with the right channel (volume very...- donato

Viva Egoista 845 SET Tube amplifier 10K Headphone Masterpiece
Go back a few pages on this thread and you'll see some discussion on tubes. My current tube complement is RCA 5U4GB, Elrog 845, 1960s Melz 1578 for 6sn7, and 1970s Voskhod 6N1P-EV.- donato

HiFiMan Susvara
It's seems to be a very solid choice and I believe the Bliss was designed with the Susvara in mind. I've never used one myself, but plenty have heard an/or owned. Do a bit of searching in this thread and I'm sure you'll find plenty of information.- donato

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
Sounds like a few different things going on here. For one, there is the hedonic treadmill. As we gain a higher level of satisfaction with something, as humans we essentially make that our baseline and then resume our chasing the the next level. There is the cliche saying about the journey and...- donato

HiFiMan Susvara
This will depend on the individual as much as anything. There is a saying - success is getting what you want; happiness is liking what you get. This may also be highly dependent on what type of music you like and your musical preference (e.g. if you are a bass head or are primarily into EDM...- donato

Ha, looks like you've put together a very nice setup with some great HPs since we met. Glad to see you're trying out and enjoying Susvara. Many of us would describe Susvara as a fantastic all-rounder, doing so much incredibly well, even if it's not the best in any specific area. It doesn't...- donato

Viva Egoista 845 SET Tube amplifier 10K Headphone Masterpiece
Nice! Do you still have your Susvara? Definitely give that a try. The Egoista is one of the few tube HP amps that can drive it well. It's the most powerful SET HP amp I know of.- donato

Viva Egoista 845 SET Tube amplifier 10K Headphone Masterpiece
I just stumbled onto your other thread where you were considering many other TOL tube amps before you ultimately decided on thie Egoista. Which other ones did you listen to, how did they compare, and why did you ultimately go with the Eogista?- donato

KG CFA3 headphone amp
Just a bit of a follow up after having spent a bit more time with this amp and more variety of music. I continue to be very impressed. My initial comments about this being a warm amp aren't quite right. It's definitely not cold at all, but it's ability to produce more bass out of the Susvara...- donato

HiFiMan Susvara
This will be dependent by person and the upstream gear in use. Some will say there is minimal difference and if that's you, then you can save a lot of money. When I first obtained my Susvara and used it on my existing setup (V281 and Spring KTE) I was very impressed (I wanted to write "blown...- donato

KG CFA3 headphone amp
I finally joined the CFA3 club (when do I get my membership card?). I was impatient waiting for the headamp unit, so I bought a unit from the classifieds from a seller I already knew (build description below). It's a 2-chassis unit which works better for me with a tight desktop setup. I...- donato

Viva Egoista 845 SET Tube amplifier 10K Headphone Masterpiece
It doesn't mean you "can't" since obviously you're already running it that way. it might mean shorter tube life if you are pushing tubes beyond their spec as biscottino mentions. I'm guessing Viva wouldn't "recommend" it. Does anyone have a decent relationship with a Viva dealer (when I've...- donato

Warwick Acoustics APERIO and BRAVURA
Thanks for a nice writeup on the comparison. This largely mirrors my experience with Bravura vs. a well driven Susvara (in my case Holo May KTE, Viva Egoista). It's not a "fair" comparison of course, but it does also highlight how the Bravura punches above it's weight given that we even...- donato

Viva Egoista 845 SET Tube amplifier 10K Headphone Masterpiece
That's a good reminder. I haven't really been paying attention to the distinction. I found this information below. Presumably if I don't use a GTA/GTB, it will shorten the tube life at the least. 5692 - 275 Volts maximum & maximum 1.75 Watts per section 6SN7GT/WGT -- 300 Volts maximum &...- donato

Do you have a recommendation on rectifier tubes? I was running sovtek 5u4g (not gb) and liked the sound of those, but the flash in them every time I powered them on was a bit disconcerting. I had some JJ tubes which sound pretty boring and flat. I have some NOS RCA 5u4gb coming so I'm hopeful...- donato

Viva Egoista 845 SET Tube amplifier 10K Headphone Masterpiece
I haven't gone back to any other 845 tube since I purchased the Elrogs, so I don't really remember all the detailed diffeerences. I don't think "color" is the word I would use though for the Elrogs, more on the sense of space and the detail were both improved. Again, it's been quite awhile...- donato
