AK Jr. vs. DX80
I had to send my DX80 back. iBasso said the problem I was experiencing -- skipping, clicking, and popping during playback -- was "firmware related" and they were working on it. I had it for nearly a month, and they still didn't have the new firmware out. To be fair to them, they just released...- fredralphfred

iBasso DX-80 hardware/firmware recommendations -- you can help!
Well, one of the reasons I posted here was to put everything in one place so it would be easy (possible) to find. This is a pretty hard topic to search for, especially in a thread with over 2,000 posts about lots of other random things. However, you're the only one to find this thread, and...- fredralphfred

AK Jr. vs. DX80
Post above -- I meant firmware updates. Obviously it's hard to do hardware updates on a product after you've shipped it.- fredralphfred

HRT Music Streamer 2 channel imbalance issues
Then the only other thing I can think of is perhaps the system mixer settings got messed up & then straightened out during the update. I wish you the best of luck resolving your situation.- fredralphfred

Noob question: Should I buy a sound card if I mostly only listen to music on Youtube w/headphones?
When you aren't listening to anything, do you hear any hiss in the headphones if you turn the volume up a little? Do you hear quiet, but funny, noises through the headphones when you run certain programs or you do something that uses a lot of hard drive access? When you listen to music at...- fredralphfred

K271S vs K271 MKII? Differences?
I hate to tell you this, but if I told you the K271 mk. II's were MILES ahead of the K271S's, there's a 50/50 chance you'd disagree if you could listen to them side-by-side. I would think that a set of K271's in good condition would be worth $50 to repair. If it really bugs you, get 'em fixed...- fredralphfred

best way to spend €650, headphone+dac\amp if needed
In my experience (20 years of spending way too much on audio equipment), I've found: (1) Transducers make a HUGE difference. (2) Not much else does, unless designed by an idiot. (3) YOU have to listen to the transducers. (4) You won't know two years later you spent/never spent the extra...- fredralphfred

HRT Music Streamer 2 channel imbalance issues
This device is a straight USB-to-DAC, no? No built-in headphone amp? What are you using as a headphone amp? How do you know it's working properly? After 4 years, if they used a cheap volume control on it, it could exhibit that sort of behavior, especially (but NOT exclusively) if you or...- fredralphfred

AK Jr. vs. DX80
I hate to tell you guys, but I just got a DX-80 about 2 weeks ago and I'm struggling to get it to play music, so I would have to recommend the AK jr. (Not that I actually have one, mind you.) My DX-80 stutters and pops playing every kind of file I've thrown at it -- .mp3, .wma lossless, and...- fredralphfred

iBasso DX-80 hardware/firmware recommendations -- you can help!
If your iBasso DX-80 plays back tracks flawlessly (no stuttering, clicking, or popping whatsoever), could you respond to this post with: Brand and size of SD card(s) used Formatted on iBasso, PC, Mac, or (which?) 3rd-party program Firmware currently in your iBasso Types of files you use...- fredralphfred
