..don't know what I'm doing wrong. I hold next button and while holding that button I press the power wheel and the screen stays black, but if I HOLD the powere button the screen lights a blank display. I tried starting from unit off and on.

'cause the speaker is on your ear.  I would rather for the ear to detect it on my ear than in front of me.  I know then that my ears are working correctly.  I wouldn't mind though if I knew that artificial processing was making me think that the imaging was out in front of me.  

I was waiting too, but now I feel privileged knowing that I'm listening to mine right NOW, and can tease you about how GOOD it sounds, dang, hold one, let me rewind, ok I'm back, wait a minute the realism there just tickled me with chills.  Ok, yes, you will get yours too ONE DAY   :-)

I like your lock adjustment.  ....hopefully this is not a haunch but it feels like it redefines the bass and makes the music sound a little less rushed, or crowded or something...  ..can't wait for my connectors so I can make my balanced cable ends.

I'm running SE right now.  Are you running in the SE or one of the balanced modes? I'm hoping that the balanced modes sound even better...

Here's my setting. Next, I will adjust the high range just a slight bit..  No up sampling, Sharp, Normal, SE.

..with a single connection, I found the HD700 and the DP-X1 to be cold/warm to my taste, but super vivid, and I love the resolution. So far, the DAP on with normal and slow seems to warm it up a bit for me.  I plan to use it without any external devices, so I hope the balanced connection will...

My relaxing headphone is the HD700 combined sometimes with Sony's PHA3.  My exercise will be the standard iPOD IEM, my get out and go will be the bluetooth/wired ZiK 3.0's.

..correct, the headphone is my HD700, and the earphone would be what they give you with a new iPOD.

  Ear Phone:  an electrical device worn on the ear to receive radio or telephone communications or to listen to a radio, MP3 player, etc., without other people hearing. just threw it out there... seems we refer to headphone, so earphone seems to fit.

..somebody mentioned this, but I keep forgetting that I am using an over the ear headphone (HD700), while some are using an ear phone.  No wonder the bass needs to be boosted.
