i've been thinking that, as well. i wonder if it would make a difference to keep the amp and change out the nano for a classic or something. i'm also wondering if it's just that these headphones don't benefit so much from an amp.

not really on topic because the OP doesn't use headphone out, but i found the classic to have more soundstage without an amp, and the touch to be more precise. I'd prefer to get the touch too if I could afford the 32gb version, but I'd miss the soundstage whenever I'm not using an amp. not...

I wish this thread all had links to those songs, or clips of them, so that I could find out if I liked any of them. Typing in names in itunes for clips would get tiring. Are there any other threads that do that? I desperately need new music.

That's too bad. Why couldn't they just make a portable that uses the power from the charger when it's plugged in? Seems like a no brainer to me if this whole exercise is to improve sound quality, portable or not.

Then why wouldn't a plugged in ipod or portable amp work just as well?

My Macbook has much better sound than my ipod nano. Much fuller, deeper sound. Was gonna get a dac/amp to use with both, now I think I'll just leave the laptop and focus on improving the ipod with an amp.
