Sony MDR-Z7M2 Headphone Thread
One of the cables I mentioned before was a little less expensive than the stock cable from the vendor hifi80sman linked, but Periapt cables will sell you a 10ft cable for $83. https://periaptcables.com/ You'd think Sony's official vendor would be able to display images on a website. Not...- ProzacMessiah

Sony MDR-Z7M2 Headphone Thread
Corpse Cable makes 10 foot cables for the MDR-Z7M2 for $150 or $225, depending on which of their lines you choose. That's relatively inexpensive for an aftermarket headphone cable. Their Gravedigger line uses Cardas wire. I have a 10ft Gravedigger cable myself. It's a quality cable and their...- ProzacMessiah

If DenverW got in on the $298 deal at B&H, and it sounds like he did, then neither of those prices will hold any allure for him.- ProzacMessiah

Introducing the LCD-i3
The Anker USB-C adapter makes everything okay, but Audeze can't make a USB-C cable themselves because so complicated. Whatever. Not offering a cable for such a large market is disappointing. Or an agreement with Apple. Regardless, this is a great example of how removing the 3.5mm headphone...- ProzacMessiah

A quick browse of the sales forum shows an unopened pair of GH1s was last offered in 2018. It was put up for sale for MSRP twice, but does not appear to have sold. On the other hand, lightly used pairs usually sell pretty quickly. Check the forum for pricing.- ProzacMessiah

New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)
I noticed that you posted about this in another thread in September. There you begin with: This is very strange. It makes no sense for Beyerdynamic to repair a headphone, especially a flagship headphone, sent to them for service in this way, because both of the foreseeable outcomes are bad...- ProzacMessiah

The main GS3000e page says that a 4-pin XLR balance cable option is available, but, to your point, it's not an option on the store page. I guess you could call them. The most interesting thing I was able to get from the photos is that the GH3 appears to have comfies (S cushions).- ProzacMessiah

The GS3000e, GH3, and GH4 now have pages on the Grado website and are available for sale on Grado's 4OurEars store, so there's a little bit more information available about each model. I've ordered a pair of GH4s. I'll be interested to see if it has a distinct sound signature or if it's an RS2e...- ProzacMessiah

REVIEW: 20 Headphones Compared
Quote: Praising with faint damnation. K501s were on clearance a couple of years ago for $100. For $1300 more than the K501, plus another $250 or so for recabling, you can buy the HD800 reviewed here, which "does most of it a bit better." This is the strongest argument for the K501...- ProzacMessiah

Grado ms-1 as first headphones
Thanks to Kevin and Cee Tee for sharing their mini-meet impressions. I've had an Alessandro MS-1 for three years or so now. It was the second audiophile headphone I bought, coming after my AKG K501. The mids are forward in the mix, but not annoyingly so, and the treble is a bit rolled...- ProzacMessiah

Live classical concerts?
Congratulations, Gilency. I've only ever attended DSO concerts. I had season tickets for a couple of years before I bought my house. Now I attend a couple concerts a year. I've seen all manner of performances there. They paired Mozart's Symphony No. 41 (Jupiter) with Holst's "The...- ProzacMessiah

Albums that are physically/mentally/emotionally exhausting, yet highly recommended?
The Who: Quadrophenia It takes more than listening to an album to exhaust me, but Quadrophenia is emotionally involving and rewards repeated listening. It seems to fit the mold of the suggestions I've seen so far.- ProzacMessiah

Wow, the Cure is really good
I'm 35 and didn't care for The Cure at the time of their commercial peak in the Disintegration/Wish era, but I've come to appreciate them later. I picked up the Disintegration reissue a couple of months ago, since those are the songs with which I'm most familiar. The bass is much more...- ProzacMessiah

Marantz SA-15S2 and PM-15S2

A 20 year old CD player against the new ones
I still have the first CD player I ever owned, a Pioneer PD-5700. It's a nondescript single disc player that I bought in 1990 or 1991 for between $100 and $200, IIRC. I used it regularly for the first 10 years or so, then boxed it for a couple of years while I was moving back and forth and...- ProzacMessiah

head-fi, construct me a Beethoven top 50
The Piano Concertos. For a top 50, you can probably get by with the last three. Picks: Uchida/Sanderling set on Philips for any. Grimaud/Jurowski on DG for the 5th. There's also a good performance of the 28th sonata this disc. Brautigam/Parrott on BIS for the 3rd. Piano Sonatas. Lex...- ProzacMessiah

So who would you put on the halftime show? Destroyed my memory of a legend.
Radiohead are a terrible idea.* They're way too avante-garde and trippy for the Super Bowl. You need something rocking and with broad appeal to the football demographic. It's not a venue for displaying your membership in the art rock cogniscienti. The older acts' music has cross-generational...- ProzacMessiah
