DAC recommendations
Sorry, I should have clarified. I am looking for a DAC/amp combined unit (modi multibit would require a separate amp unless I'm mistaken?). I'm looking at the audioengine D1 currently and it looks like it might be a good option.- Kreyyn

DAC recommendations
Logitech Z5500. I always use headphones when I care about sound quality but I do use them at times. I guess I can just directly connect my speakers to my motherboards optical output. For the DAC connection, I suppose USB is probably the most universal.- Kreyyn

DAC recommendations
I have decided it's time to finally replace my asus xonar essence STX sound card (it is having a common reported 'high pitch' issue that makes you frantically rip your headphones off). My headphones are Denon D5000's (still going strong after replacing the leather cups etc.). A few of the...- Kreyyn

Upgrading from Denon D5000's
I don't mind spending the money for this external DAC if I think it's worth it. Would it be noticeable over the essence stx + external amp? Would even just the amp be noticeable with the essence? Thanks!- Kreyyn

Upgrading from Denon D5000's

Upgrading from Denon D5000's
Thanks heaps. I'll try some chinese replacement ear pads (was thinking of these) and that headband cover for now and see how they go (not a huge investment really anyway). Ultimately I am very happy with these 5000's. What sort of difference could I expect to see with such an amp? I don't...- Kreyyn

Upgrading from Denon D5000's
The leather on the earpads/headband is all worn down (result of wearing them without air conditioning each summer on 40c+ days and 90% humidity!). Denon stuff is just stupid expensive in Australia though... I guess I could tape up the headband and buy replacement ear pads (Denon's...- Kreyyn

Upgrading from Denon D5000's
I've been really happy with my Denon D5000's but I think it's time to change (unfortunately they're a bit damaged...). I don't mind spending a decent amount of money for something of high quality (don't want anything 'worse'!). I was looking at the newer Denon D7100's, but what other similar...- Kreyyn
