HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Oh, if so, then I misunderstood, and I apologize. Since he said, "I can't speak for the HE-6 though," I thought that he was strictly speaking of Audeze.- Peter78

HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone
I think you mean stock leather (not pleather, which is fake leather). The Audeze pads are genuine lambskin, if I am not mistaken. My (used) LCD-2.2's came with the vegan pads, and I suspected that the bass might be reduced by them. So, I picked up a pair of the lambskin ones, thinking that...- Peter78

NEW! Fostex TH610 Premium Reference Closed-Back Headphones
Yep, it is good for me. I'm glad that I have good taste. BTW, I was merely providing a counterpoint and my own opinion to the gent who stated that he prefers the glossy finish. "To each their own," indeed. Your response of, "good for you," makes you sound like a child.- Peter78

I prefer the matte finish. Super-glossy wood always looks cheap and artificial to me. I own the TH-X00, as well.- Peter78

-Are the pads on HE560 easily removable? Yes. -Are new pads affordable? $39 -Are new cables affordable? It depends. You can get a nice aftermarket one for ~$60. They go up from there.- Peter78

Agreed. I'm surprised that anyone would be concerned about the box, particularly considering that it's cardboard (not hardwood, metal, or plastic pelican-style, as many better headphone cases are). "Fancy" cardboard? I'm afraid that sounds like an oxymoron to me. To each his own, though...- Peter78

I'd prefer mini-XLR, as well. However, my reply was primarily about the connectors that HFM actually uses (old: SMC, new: 2.5mm TRS) and in response to the member who lamented not having the new connectors. I don't think that the threads on SMC connectors are particularly small or...- Peter78

^This. The SMC connectors are more secure, and I prefer them to TRS connectors. My only issue was that the cable that came with my HE-560's had a bad connector on one side, and it would not thread onto the post on the headphone. My aftermarket cable works well, along with the stock cable...- Peter78

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
I'm in the same boat (received notice last week that the Precision 1 was discontinued, after having decided to purchase it for my new HE-6's). I'm now looking at the Odyssey Cylcops (which is an Odyssey Khartago with a passive pre-amp). Several have commented favorably about the Khartago...- Peter78

Depending on where you're located, the colder weather may have an effect (and may explain why this has started only recently for you). The lower humidity, due to colder weather, increases the amount of static electricity.- Peter78

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Has anyone tried an Onkyo A-5, A-7, or A-10, with the HE-6's? If so, would you mind posting impressions? Thanks in advance.- Peter78

I'd recommend that you switch the cable's connection to the headphones (R to L, L to R), and see if the issue persists in the L driver. If so, then there is likely an issue with that driver; if not, the issue likely lies elsewhere.- Peter78

GUSTARD H10 High-current Discrete Class A output Stage Headphone Amplifier
FYI, you are flipping the numerator and the denominator in your calculations. The H10's output impedance would be 50ohm/400 = 0.125ohm (1/8 ohm).- Peter78

Most of the opinions that I've read of the HE-560/H10 pairing (in this thread and the H10 thread) are favorable. That's the same combo that I use, and I'm quite pleased with it.- Peter78

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
My understanding of the naming matches jodgey4's, above. There are 3 (major) versions: LCD-2.1 = the original LCD-2.2 = updated driver (not necessarily the angled connectors; angled connectors came after the new drivers, so some 2.2's have them, and some don't. mine do.) LCD-2.2F (or...- Peter78

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
Has anyone directly compared the late 2015 ("silent-revision") 2F's with the 2.2's? Below is MissChristie's graph of her Dec. 2015's, superimposed on my 2.2's graph. My 2.2's response is in red. Since the F's are more sensitive, I had to shift the Dec. 2015's downward vertically, and I...- Peter78

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
I suspect that he was referring to the (several) posts, pages back, where others had stated that they prefer the TH-X00 to the LCD-2 (presumably irrespective of price). I, myself, prefer my LCD-2.2, but my TH-X00 are growing on me.- Peter78

I can try to do that later, but honestly, I don't think that they look much different (if at all) than the Type A pads. I should have taken some pictures of the differences in the foam, before I put the new foam into the Type A pads. The Headphone Mart foam is blue memory-foam, and it seems...- Peter78

Yes, I do realize that the Type A pads are taller. I intentionally used the Type A pad, because the Headphone Mart foam is quite large, and I thought that it would fit better into the Type A pad. Plus, I wanted to keep my Type B pads intact and original, as I like the sound from them.- Peter78

Thanks, Lickumms. I think that I may have discovered something. I was trying to figure out what might be causing the sound differences, and I noticed that the FAD pads (both A and B) have fabric for the inner cylinder of the pad, from the stitching back to the flat fabric dust-cover disk...- Peter78

I can't speak for the other pads that you've tried, but I purchased the pads to which you've linked (from Headphone Mart, via Amazon), and I don't like the way that they alter the sound. They certainly are more comfortable than the FAD Type B pads, but the sound suffers, in my opinion. The...- Peter78
