How does Magni 3 compare to Valhalla 2? I only have Valhalla 2 and I do want to try some solid state amp. I original would like to get a jot but I don't really need the balanced output. And now magni 3 which priced at $99 is really tempting.

Old RCA switch could potentially degrade the sound of both DACs. That may be the reason you couldn't hear much difference.

I am currently using valhalla 2 with bimby and moded HD650, an wonderful combo. My experience is that if you leave the valhalla 2 on for a long time, say a couple of days or longer. There will be some slight static/interference. Otherwise, it's pretty slience.

I just got my Valhalla 2 yesterday. My setup is bimby ->Valhalla 2 -> hd650. This amp is very natural, smooth and a bit warm, noticeably better than my smsl amp. The only thing is that the clearity/resolution could be better. But still, can't complain at this price though. Solid value.
