IEM Score List 2023 - What's Your Favorite IEM?
Thanks for the honest reply Virtu. I've never used IEMs (unless cheap earbuds count ), much less TOTL ones so I had no idea what to expect. I guess everything has trade-offs. I'll continue to read the reviews with my newly tempered expectations.- Maconi

IEM Score List 2023 - What's Your Favorite IEM?
So currently I'm using an LCD-XC but lately I've been thinking that I may want to switch to something a bit smaller (TOTL custom IEM). However, could a TOTL custom IEM compare (or best) the LCD-XC (in both sound and isolation)? Isolation is important, but I also don't want to downgrade...- Maconi

So no one (that reads this section) has the experience to comment? I'll try dropping a line in some of the IEM threads.- Maconi

LCD-XC vs TOTL Custom IEM
So currently I'm using an LCD-XC with a Schiit Ragnarok/Yggdrasil as my setup at work (I'm at my desk 8 hours a day, gotta have some quality sound ) but lately I've been thinking that I may want to take my setup home and instead use something a bit smaller (TOTL custom IEM with another Schiit...- Maconi

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
It's a shame that the Jotunheim supports balanced in/out but the DAC isn't multibit. The only balanced multibit DACs in Schiit's lineup are the Gunginir and Yggdrasil. I have the Yggy beside of me, but if I could have paired up a multibit DAC with the Jotunheim for under $1k I would have...- Maconi

Audeze's 2016 revamp, re-voiced and re-engineered headphones, the entire line (except Sine and EL8 Ti; these have updates as standard)
My LCD-XC had the left driver fail. Audeze was pretty quick to turn it around and they confirmed that it now has the 2016 drivers in it. Old Drivers New Drivers Can't say much impression-wise yet. The old drivers were well broken-in and most of my time spent with the old drivers...- Maconi

Audeze LCD-4
So I just bought the carbon fiber headband (for my LCD-XC, but obviously there are more people with experience with the headband in this thread). It appears the head strap is so long that it contacts the actual carbon fiber headband. Didn't Audeze offer to correct this or am I just making that...- Maconi

AUDEZE LCD XC
Just got them back. Audeze turned it around in 1 business day (I shipped them 7 day, they shipped them back 2-3 day). Back in business. I may have even lucked out and got an upgrade if there really is a "2016" revision (had to tell since these are new drivers that are still breaking in). Can't...- Maconi

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers
Be sure to come back and post your results. I demoed the Ether C for a week and wasn't impressed with the bass either (compared to my LCD-XC). It gave the headphones the impression of being thin/distant/hollow to me. I didn't have a chance to burn them in (and that was before the "1.1"...- Maconi

So how do you know which version you have? My LCD-XC had a driver failure and I had to RMA it to Audeze. I now have it back and it appears they changed just about everything but the headband and the mini-XLR connectors (still silver, not black like the newer ones). Would be nice to know if I was...- Maconi

AUDEZE LCD XC
They're almost 2 years old. They haven't been used much so it almost seems like they just deteriorate on their own? Not sure. Yeah I'm not sure why Audeze has so many failures compared to other brands. I'm not sure if it's a design flaw or what (since most of their headphones are basically...- Maconi

AUDEZE LCD XC
I was able to compare the Ether-C and LCD-XC for a week or so and I actually came out preferring the XC. Something about the C sounded a bit hollow/thin to me (maybe I'm just a bass-head and the XC's bass won me over). Having said that, I think the left driver just died on my XC (I have zero...- Maconi

How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?
Just had the left channel die on my LCD-XC (not 3 but still). At least I think so as I have zero sound from the left (tried using multiple sources/cables)? When the driver dies does it buzz or is it completely silent?- Maconi

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers
Don't say that lol. I just finished a demo of the Ether C and although I wanted to love it, it was just missing something compared to the LCD-XC (I think it was body, due to the decay like you say). It cost me $40 in shipping to try them (it's not cheap insuring $1500 headphones lol). I'd like...- Maconi

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread
Who said the TeCu pins were brass (when we said Brass we meant the Mini-XLR not the 4-pin)? After a bit more digging I was able to find that "Brass" means "Red Brass" (60% Copper/40% Zinc) and the IACS is: Metal IACS Rhodium 39% Red Brass 37% So as long as Nickle isn't...- Maconi

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread
Yeah I just spent a while looking for the Neutrik info and I finally found that they're Silver-plated Brass pins. So the Eidolic XLR is indeed superior IACS wise. It's probably safe to say that both of the Mini-XLR females (standard and Eidolic) are also Brass (Eidolic tries to say their...- Maconi

Clean up your ears!
I used to have an issue where if I opened my mouth a certain way my jaw would pop/click (so I'd hear it while when I opened my mouth, during chewing, trying to pop my ears, etc.). It ended up being my wisdom teeth grinding on my jaw bone. I had all 4 removed before it caused a fracture. ...- Maconi

Schiit Owners Unite
I had an issue with my Yggdrasil/Ragnarok that took me a few minutes to work through. I static shocked my headphones (while plugged into the stack) and instantly lost the entire left channel. Turning everything off and back on did nothing. I started to think I blew the left transducer in my...- Maconi

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
The Schiit Ragnarok can do 10W @ 50ohms meaning it's pushing ~22V, right? (could be butchering the math there lol) If so maybe I should put the HE-6 on my list of headphones to try someday (I have a Ragnarok). :D- Maconi

AUDEZE LCD XC
You can currently get them in a "Bocote" wood finish. I considered it but instead of paying $1800 for a Bocote cup I paid $1000 for a used Bubinga set. :D- Maconi
