[FiiO KA17] Mini desktop-class amp, flagship dongle is officially released!
Just pulled the trigger on a new KA17 from Amazon. Thanks to @o0genesis0o and @spruce for your recent thoughts on its sonics vs the m15 Default mode by itself would most likely seem an upgrade over the V60. Ill find out soon enough!- Larethio

Introducing the Questyle M15 & the brand new Questyle Shop!
Between the new Fiio KA17 and the M15i, which dongle do you guys think is more "reference" and detailed? Is M15i worth the extra $? From what I could gather the M15 would probably be better for my phone battery.- Larethio

[FiiO KA17] Mini desktop-class amp, flagship dongle is officially released!
Okay. So when Volume matched and the ka17 in default port both dongles have identical sound except the M15i has slightly superior soundstage depth basically?- Larethio

[FiiO KA17] Mini desktop-class amp, flagship dongle is officially released!
Thanks for the reply Ill be using my V60 battery for power so desktop mode isnt recommended for my use case and your comment on presentation depth and what others have said about it being tuned "warm" a bit. Much more difficult choosing dongles compared to choosing earphones in my experience...- Larethio

[FiiO KA17] Mini desktop-class amp, flagship dongle is officially released!
Im upgrading from my V60s internal DAC to a delta sigma dongle. How does the KA17 compare to the Questyle M15i? The latter i was about to pull the trigger on until I heard this dongle. Im using 60 ohm Hifiman Re2000 Silvers if that helps. Im sure neither of these dongles would have an issue...- Larethio

Fiio KA17 vs Questyle M15i
Yeah im in the same boat as you and have been researching the hell out of it. It seems the Fiio has a more powerful amplifier and different reconstruction filters to choose from. And its a good bit cheaper. However it seems to be more of a battery drainer than the M15i. And some have said it...- Larethio

Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600
Any MMCX services specifically in the United States? The RE-600 retail about $75 with warranty and its just doesn't make much sense to send it across the planet and pay around $100 to modify a set that costs 3/4th as much brand new 🙁 I failed to mentioned my location before- Larethio

Introducing the Drop + Etymotic ERX In-Ear Monitors
Exactly. Though my main gripe of the etys will always be their collapsed soundstage. My Fitear F111 was basically an shallow fit Etymotic er4 and it failed to compare to a well tuned dynamic driver like my FDx1 in terms of instrument "weight" and natural bass. An ER-4XR with a shallow fitting...- Larethio

Etymotic March Madness - Photo Competition
My photos of my beloved ER4-SR. Has fantastic synergy with the LG V60. More so than the V30. A smoother sounding yet slightly more revealing ess DAC.- Larethio

Music Apps, Tips and Tricks for the LG V30, V35, V40, V50 & V60
Youre posts have cleared up my misconceptions about the options. Seems what I heard with "when possible" were euphoric distortions with "ON" being the true option for critical listening.- Larethio

Thank you for your thoughts. To my ears it seems WHEN POSSIBLE is the better choice for reference listening. At least, instruments have slightly more natural body and decay.- Larethio

Music Apps, Tips and Tricks for the LG V30, V35, V40, V50 & V60
I have always left the value on either "when possible" or "on". Should those two option in particular sound identical? I know off defaults to android's 48khz sampling rate. The v30s ESS 9218p supports up to 32/384, so I assumed both options would affect output the very same.- Larethio

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
Yeah its my main reason for not using Poweramp anymore. Too bad because its U.I. is pretty great. UAPP's U.I. is alright while Neutron's is unbearable. I always leave Bit Perfect to either On of When Possible, never off, though When Possible sounds more natural to me than ON. Since my phone...- Larethio

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android
Do the "On" and "When Possible" options in Bit Perfect sound different to anyone? Should they? I'm playing local lossless files off my V30 and I can swear I hear a slight difference in my Er4's tonality though it could be placebo. For what its worth my phone's ESS DAC remains on with both options.- Larethio

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread
Etymotic's awesome tuning kit might suit you, switching to brown filters brightened my er4s quite a bit. :o2smile: A nice bit of customization. Or u can use dampers from a third party, using their listed impedance as reference, though not all fit the nozzle properly like Ety's does.- Larethio

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread
For one I'm not picking the company apart. Thanks for assuming anyway. You're too kind. Its called doing research and asking questions before making a costly purchase. The er4 has a longer warranty even though its no longer the flagship. Drivers fail and accidents happen. Its more important...- Larethio

Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread
Etymotics website lists the EVO as having only a one year warranty as opposed to the cheaper er4 which has a two year warranty. Hopefully this is a mistake.- Larethio
