How to make DAC run in 24-bit mode by default

I hope this is the right category for this question as this may be more of a computer question than a DAC question, but here goes: I have a Fiio e10k and in the Audio MIDI Setup I set the sample rate to 44.1 khz and the bit depth to 2ch-24-bit integer, however any time I unplug the DAC and...

Can frequencies higher than I can hear damage my hearing?

What I'm really asking is if this is practical to worry about. It makes sense that any frequency could damage your ears if the amplitude was high enough, but aside from crazy ultrasonic weapons, could frequencies higher than I can hear hurt my ears? I've never had my hearing range tested and...

    Good, cheap starter USB DAC?

Any cheaper recommendations than the E10? EDIT: Nevermind, I decided to buy the E10.

    Good, cheap starter USB DAC?

So when using the line out, the volume control on the E10 wouldn't control anything right? Also, I'll definitely consider the E10, but I might only want to spend more than 60 bucks if I really have to. If there's a similar USB DAC that's cheaper that you guys recommend I might buy that instead.

    Good, cheap starter USB DAC?

My level of audiophile listening skills is this: If I'm wearing headphones, I can tell the difference between 128 kbps and 320 kbps mp3 played back to back if I'm listening reaaaally intently. That's it. Almost all my music is in 320 mp3 or 256 aac and I've never felt the need to have any of it...

Looking for a subwoofer to connect to my A5+ speakers

The A5+ has RCA jacks in the back for output to a sub. It looks like the M8 can take RCA while the STF-2 doesn't. I don't know what the other ways of hooking up a subwoofer are. If I got the STF-2, how would I hook it up?

Looking for a subwoofer to connect to my A5+ speakers

On another website someone with A5+ speakers posted a thread asking for recommendations for a sub and someone recommended the STF-2. http://hsuresearch.com/products/stf-2.html It's not that much more expensive than the M8 (at least when it's on sale). Do you or anyone have any thoughts on...

Looking for a subwoofer to connect to my A5+ speakers

This is for a computer dekstop setup in my bedroom. I noticed on the specs for the M8 that it has a lowpass that can go from 40 to 220 hz. Is that the same thing as the crossover frequency? Also, let's say I get this sub. Because the frequency response of the A5+ speakers are 50hz-22khz +/- 1.5...

Looking for a subwoofer to connect to my A5+ speakers

I've had a pair of A5+ speakers for years and in those years I had been 100% satisfied with the sound I was getting from them. But things have changed and maybe my heart desires more sub bass now. I'd like to spend as little money as possible on a subwoofer. However, I know that if I get a...

Bought FiiO D3 external DAC and I can't get it to work

The cord I would like it to work with is a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm aux cord because I'm using the RCA inputs on the speakers for a turntable. However, I have also tried using an RCA to RCA and that didn't work either.

Bought FiiO D3 external DAC and I can't get it to work

Newbie here. I hope I didn't post this in the wrong place. Anyways, I've owned a pair of A5+ speakers for years and only recently discovered what external DACs were, so I decided to buy a FiiO D3 (D03k) external DAC. I've plugged it into my Macbook using optical cable, and then the DAC is...
