HD 540 RG For sure the sound is so natural, the timbre of instruments really true but never forget that one the main quality of this headphone Is that Is really able to disappear from your head and let the sound arrive from all around you like if really someone is playing next to you.

I discovered hd540 thanks to this thread in 2015 and since then I've been a fan. I've owned 2 Reference Il, 2 Reference I and a Gold; all with stock pads in good shape but one that I renewed with new foam. I still owe 4 of them even though the Gold Is my favourite of the bunch. I tried also...

The white original ones are the best in my opinion, then the velour original that sound quite similar also if filled with other kind of foam. I know that Is impossibile to find new original since years because of that Is really important when buying these cans to know the conditions of the pads...

Try to remove the pad and check if some hair Is between the foam and the driver, sometime happens. Hope for you Is only that.

It looks like the plastic little tubes could broke something fragile of the driver... I would be really scared of that. And you're right It looks very bad.

Don't know... I am in the firsts asking to be part of It but until now not informations about that. So not clear if the tour is still going on and not sure if I will be part of It. Like me could be more people (clients).

It Is Easy and cheap to find because are the same as k240 and others still on sale.

Sorry for my replay... I own and listened many K340 as Is one of my favorite vintage cans. In the past pads were more than now a part of the headphone tuning. So I think that in vintage original pads are better than alternatives, expecially when still available. Hi

As original pads I meant stock ones, without holes. yes. Alternative pads I meant leather pads, perforated ones now in stock in the site for 35usd. With stock pads the bass are more in quantity and impact and I'm quite sure Is possibile to hear the lower frequencies louder.

Yesterday I got the alternative pads, what a Surprise. The sound change in a neutral-natural way, the timbre of acoustic instruments became more real-like. The sound stage Is grown in amplitude and depth. The details in the tracks are clearer and Verum lost a bit of treble that sometimes came a...

In order to save my pads like now I was thinking to try the velour ones from Ref1 OG and compare them deeply. Then I Will report It. If the quality of Gold Will be still there I Will Be really happy. I'm really not able to let them in the wood box.
