2007 HR Portable Microamp+dac - Any impressions ?
I recently upgraded from the 2006 HeadRoom MicroAmp with Desktop upgrade - to the 2007 Ultra MicroAmp. One major difference is that the 2007 Ultra is transportable in that it requires a power adapter and has no battery capability. I talked to the guys at HeadRoom quite a bit before I made...- xcodeguy

Pictures of Your Portable Rig [Part IX]
iPod Classic 160, ALO Jumbo Cryo, 2007 HeadRoom Ultra Micro Amp and UE-5c. It falls under transportable because the amp needs a power adapter - no batteries.- xcodeguy

Recommend a DAC for this setup...
Hi all, This is my first stab at a decent setup and am thinking perhaps I should invest in a better DAC for the optimum of what I have. I finally 'realize' what everyone means by synergy between each component and have found that overall. So keeping in mind synergy, the price of what I have...- xcodeguy

New to dedicated source/SACD - question
Thank you everyone for answering my questions. I have another question for those inclined to help this newb out: Would I benefit more using the internal DAC in the Oppo hence analog out to my amp; or should I go optical to my MicroDAC? Is it safe to assume that since the MicroDAC cost twice...- xcodeguy

New to dedicated source/SACD - question
I'm thinking about getting the Oppo DV-970HD. I will be using the optical out to feed a Headroom MicroDac and then on to a WooAudio6. I've read the user manual for the Oppo and it specifically says that SACD and DVD-A playback will only work with the 5.1 analog outputs because of copy...- xcodeguy

Grado RS-1 reveals bad source more than custom IEM?
I have about 10 hours on my new Grado RS-1 and I must say that they are definitely revealing - anything in my collection under 320kbps and it sounds like crap. I've tried the grado's with the LD MicroTube and MicroStack. I like the Microstack better. I have the UE-5c also and being more...- xcodeguy

About to make a jump---Sound signature
Pretty old post but if your still interested in a personal opinion - I own the UE-5c and I love them. I'm not looking for a new set of IEM's anytime soon. I was on the list for the triple-fis (long story) but ended up with the UE-5c and have never looked back. I upgraded from the Super.fi...- xcodeguy

RS-1 Appreciation Thread starts here!!!!
Just after a few songs with these RS-1's and WOW! This is the first time I've ever taken a full size can out of the box, pluged-in and not felt that "maybe this or maybe that will be better after some burn-in" - I mean these are perfect for how I like my music. This kind of take-off experience...- xcodeguy

RS-1 Appreciation Thread starts here!!!!
I've worked up the Grado ladder and still have my SR-60. The last top-o-line Grado I owned was the RS-2 - which I ended up selling. So get this - I couldn't resist and received my RS-1 yesterday - but the sad thing (in more ways than one) is that they are currently tucked away in my office...- xcodeguy

Is a Wooaudio 6 overkill for my needs
I'm seriously thinking about this amp - AKG601, Grado SR60, UE 5c. Source - MicroDac and AAC 20. I know the W6 handles a wider range of impedences but could I look at the Woo3? This will be my first tube amp.- xcodeguy

Cable Upgrade for: Sennheiser HD600
Because I just spent $200 on the Moon Audio Blue Dragon cable for my HD600's - I'm inclined to say how great and what a big difference in SQ...eh - yeah I guess. I could have done something better with $200 - like twords a better amp. Yep a better amp would have provided better SQ than a cord...- xcodeguy

Cubicle Listening: What headphone do you use?
Cube dweller here too as well. I use my UE-5c at work and love them. YEAH! But..... They block everything - AND - they are rather difficult to get out of my ear when someone stops by to speak with me. I've gotten some wierd looks trying to get these IEM's out. I wouldn't even dream of...- xcodeguy

Bithead vs. Micro AMP (I know I know....)
I upgraded from the TBH to the MicroAmp with Desktop Module and I think it's incredible! I also just recently got a MicroDac and have that connectect to my iMac. I'm still trying to get a feel for the different sources and combinations using my HD595 and UE 5c. The MicroAmp is relly a nice...- xcodeguy

What tubes to try with WooAudio3
I'm thinking about getting the WooAudio3. I have searched this forum quite a bit and even tried to find the right tubes on some recommended sites but the numbers are confusing me. One 6AS7 / 6080 [PDF] power tube - is the number 6AS7 or 6080? Two 6922 / 6DJ8 [PDF] drive tubes - is the...- xcodeguy
