Long awaited Smyth SVS Realiser NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
I have had similar problems whenver I change my setup. the underlying issue is your sound card needs to know that it is hooked to a 5.1 or 7.1 capable device. The realiser by itself will not show itself as one. Try googling for 'EDID HDMI 5.1'. You can try to pass the HDMI through a HDMI...- RandomForest

I have decided to keep my LCD-4. I have King on order and trying to decide between between Chord Hugo and Yggy. When used as a DAC how well does Hugo TT compare to Chord Hugo? Chord Hugo gives that extra option of being portable in-door amp.- RandomForest

@romaz Very nice comparison. I was not able to put my finger on what was different about the bass, this would help me go back and hear. I was driving HE-1K with HA-1, and looks like I may have to try a different source DAC to get a better idea of treble on HE-1K.- RandomForest

Very much agree, my interpretation of 'more forward = >letting its presence know in a realistic and transparent way' was a bit different but Shembot nailed it.- RandomForest

Treble is more forward yes for sure but not aggressive, I would try my best to do a more in depth comparison, I think there are a few very experienced head-fiers on this thread who have access to both and may be able to articulate the differences much better than me.- RandomForest

I have LCD-3F that I have been using for quite some time now and been happy with. But going from LCD-3F to LCD-4s can be a shocking experience, to a point where I cannot find a single reason to go back. It feels like a veil just lifted (which I did not even know existed) making it sound quite...- RandomForest

So I got a chance to spend few hours with HE-1K today and I have been listening to LCD4s for little over a week now. The HE-1K was borrowed it already had break-in time (though I don't believe in it much). Here are the differences I notice: The imaging and sound stage is quite different on...- RandomForest

Got the HE-1K today and I think I can answer your question. With volume knobs at the same position, both using SE cables, LCD-4 sounds about twice as loud, this is on my HA-1. If for LCD-4 I am at 12 O' clock position I am at 3 O' clock for HE-1K to get about the same loudness for vocals. For...- RandomForest

From a power delivery point of view, if efficiency is the only criteria (which is mostly true for planar as they act almost as pure restive load), the key to efficient power delivery is to reduce losses at the source. So it makes perfect sense to go for an amp with the least internal impedance...- RandomForest

It is a little more complicated than that. Yes you can use an adapter and I already have an adapter. Yes, I paid extra for the cable (some phone calls and email exchanges with the good folks at Audeze), and I was allowed to ship everything back including the two cables if I decided not to keep...- RandomForest

I have tried both balanced and SE with my LCD4s on HA-1. I got the Audeze premium cables both SE and balanced to compare exactly this. Going from SE to balanced had the expected doubling of volume but I did not notice any significant change. That said, I prefer to use the balanced mode and the...- RandomForest

I have not tried pure tones but check out the bass extension and speed with organs and cannons. The 4s hit the lowest of low notes with ease, the organs can go as low as 15-16Hz I think and any lower can only be felt. I also like to crank up the volume on the cannons, it is just fun to do...- RandomForest

The hyperbole I can think of is 'An Audeze on stats', hey I said it is a hyperbole @goldendarko I notice from your signature, your chain is similar to mine PC -> HA-1 -> LCD3F, now trying to decide between LCD-4 and HE1K. @Vanquisher I am sorry for your wallet in this regard. The 3Fs are my favorite headphones too and I am still under shock as I cannot go back to the 3Fs after listening to LCD4s. Though the 4s a re little heavier than the 3s, once they are on my head, the 4s feel a little lighter and more comfortable to me. At the widest point, the leather suspension of the new bands are one whole inch wider than the previous band (this may not be obvious from the pictures) and the...- RandomForest

I very much look forward to hearing that too. I have a very humble rig: Foobar(DSD or Flac > 96 KHz) -> Oppo HA-1 (DAC) -> Oppo HA-1 (Amp) -> Audeze premium balanced cable -> LCD4 Ha-1 with my LCD3s worked very well for me till now, the Ha-1 is a swiss army knife when it comes to connectivity...- RandomForest

I love the Mcassar Ebony, the grains are almost 3 dimensional (It could be due to the finish). I am in US but did not choose Cocobolo as I am not a fan of red or purplish look. Macassar is way darker with a tinge of red while the Zebrano on my LCD3 is much lighter.- RandomForest

Thanks. When I am not wearing them, I am staring at them. Every time I go from the LCD-3Fs to LCD-4, I feel a veil just lifted (forgive me I am not articulate like many others here). I am not say LCD3s are veiled, but LCD4 seems to be an improvement across the board.- RandomForest

@olilam I own LCD-3F and have been using them as my primary phones for quite some time. My initial listening impressions are similar to yours, cannot agree with you more.
