Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

C5D has been connected to my Etymotic HF5 and iPad anytime I can take some time out, and the sound is superb, especially with 24bit 96khz music.

Thoughts on a bunch of DACs (and why delta-sigma kinda sucks, just to get you to think about stuff)

JDS Labs C5D --- It is exceptional. Very little to no hiss noise even with sensitive iem, very clean detailed and accurate sound, reference quality, pocketsized simple design.

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Yeah, the C5D sound is impressive. Also, its pocketsize simple no-nonsense design adds to its quality. Using this setup with my HF5 to play 24bit 96khz tracks and HD radio is amazing. Looking forward to acquiring an ER4-S. :)

Need a pair of IEMs under 200

For noiseless/clean, neutral and superb detailed sound: Etymotic HF5 iem, connected to JDS Labs C5D dac, and iPad2 cck. And, play HD tracks (24bit 96khz or 192khz). C5D is pricey but i dont think there is a compact dac that can match its performance. It was designed for sensitive high end...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

My next earphone will be the ER4P-T(S). Presently, my HF5 is connected to the JDS Labs C5D, and the sound is superb, and clean, no hiss nor noise. If anyone here is going to try out the C5D with your ER4, your feedback would be welcomed. :)

    The Etymotics HF5 Thread

My HF5 is connected to a JDS Labs C5D and iPad2 cck, and the sound is superb. The dual bass of the C5D is deep and still whole with detail. The gain is powerful, and the only time there is hiss is when there is no track playing while the volume is maxed. With the very clean and detailed deep...

    [REVIEW] Etymotic ER4P / ER4S - The Living Legends

My portable kit: Etymotic HF5, JDS Labs C5D, iPad2 cck. The sound of this IEM with this DAC is so clean and detailed, no hiss. Superb, and compact. I am now interested to hear how much more detail there would be with the ER4p-T [and S], and my C5D. ER4p-T is next on the toy list.

neutral high detail: Etymotic ER4-PT (detachable, and high impedance), and, HF5 (not detachable, and low impedance).

What Headphones should you buy? Thoughts on Deciding on the Sound you like

My portable kit: Etymotic HF5, JDS Labs C5D, iPad2. The sound is superb. C5D might seem a bit pricey, but i am appreciating its dollar value everytime I listen to 24bit 96khz music, or even regular digital content online. Very compact, very little to no hiss, crisp detailed sound.

JDS LABs C5D vs FiiO E17K

I've been using my C5D for the past several days with my Etymotic HF5 and iPad2 through its 30pin port, playing HD radio and 24 bit 96 khz tracks, and the sound is superb (compared to without a DAC). Inbetween tracks, there is no hiss sound, and the quiet hiss sound is only noticeable when...

Yeah, the ER4-PT is very neutral clear and detailed. The HF5 is detailed also, and has more dB in the low frequency, and more affordable.

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?

After more usage I have found that a headphone amp is redundant when using low impedance earphones. My ipad volume level is more than enough. The FiiO E12A is nicely designed and sounds clean, but does not really add to the sound quality. I will soon be trying out the Beyerdynamic A200P DAC.

Reviewers say because of that there is slightly more detail heard.

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?

....I still like my $16 earbuds now with the amp, having more rounded treble and increased bass. I wonder how these two components with an amp would sound: http://effectaudio.com/product/cc-piccolino-ultimate-iem-upgrade-cable-by-effect-audio/...

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?

:) After briefly borrowing an Etymotic ER4-S, I'm wondering how much more detail can be heard from an ER4-B. I have tried out my new FiiO E12A with my Etymotic HF5 and LG phone, and WOW the instrument separation and clean details are very noticeable [in comparison to my $16 earbuds direct to...

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?

Yeah, reviews are good for boutique amps like the Corda Step, but I'll first try amps sold incountry . Have recently picked up the FiiO E12A iem amp. Will post opinions.

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?

I hear a lot of detail nonamped, but being that the ER4-S is high impedance I'd like to get the most out of it if an amp would make a noticeable difference. Check out this possible amp that's looks pretty compatible, havent seen any reviews yet: http://www.cypherlabs.com/products/theorem-720-dac/

DAC or portable amp for Etymotic ER-4S?

Which DACs and portable headphone amps provide the strongest signal and clearest and cleanest sound for the Etymotic ER-4S? Would be nice for it to be compatible with iOS, Android, Windows8, and latest OS. :)
