    SR60-Mod part II

I agree there, shrinking the chamber won't help anything. I just swapped the cups between the 60 and 60is. The old 60s sound  good with the larger cups, the sound opens up and feels less inside the ear as you'd expect. Better synergy with the venting too.  If only I had some wood...

    SR60-Mod part II

So. Sitting next to me is a set of  B-stock sr60i 's and a really old set of sr60's. From a whole lot of ABing them i actually prefer the timbre of the old sr60's, it might be the condition of the driver (when I got them the gauze front was yellow and the pads were crumbling to dust) but the...

    Basic Modding fun

There are currently either Philips SHL 9560 or Urbanears Plattan for less than £10 on gumtree.  Which one should I gut and tinker with?   Should this be in the DIY section?

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread

Is there a headphone out there that is like the hp100 or 150 though a little warmer? Is the 150 is warmer or fuller than the 100? I'm into a  lively sound with personality and presence without too much bloat or boost. I've never owned an 'analytical' headphone before but i'm strongly...

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

By way of sound impressions (original model): Less busy songs came out better with the Momentums. In my opinion unaggressive blues  could not be improved upon with these. It felt like there was no unnecessary 'tension' in the sound which complimented the genre perfectly. The slow but broad bass...

    Sony MDR-ZX310 sound?

I've listened to the 300s and 310s back to back. The 300s sounded a bit louder with the same volume setting and I thought the 310s sounded a little smoother overall - could have been the pads its hard to tell.

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

I'm looking at either the K545 or Soundmagic HP150 . I'd like a somewhat balanced sound with a fun or engaging edge. The two seem to be directly competitive but I haven't found a back to back comparison as yet. I had a look at the specs and they are so close! this might be helpful to others...

    AKG K545 or Soundmagic HP150?

[Review] AKG K545: A new benchmark in portable audio

Which out of these or the SoundMagic HP150 would be more engaging and rich? I know they are both somewhat neutral but which is more 'fun' sounding? Thanks in advance :)

    AKG K545 or Soundmagic HP150?

Do you think that the HP150 has too much bass for Jazz or alternative? I listen to a fair bit of Louis Armstrong et al.

    AKG K545 or Soundmagic HP150?

Thanks for the reply.      Which would you say performs better unamped? Also are the plastic arms that hold the cup onto the HP150 at all flimsy, they look quite thin.

    AKG K545 or Soundmagic HP150?

Im in a similar ship but looking for versatility across genre as well. I'm coming from  the Momentum which I felt didn't have the treble quantity or bass speed. Which of K545 and HP150 is smoother and richer?  It was that quality that I liked about the Momentum.

    AKG new headphone K545?

That's really encouraging, thanks.  the frequency response graph goes a bit wild near the high end is that good and clear with not too much roll-off or harshness? I'm not great at reading them.

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread

Ah, I should say these are over-ears and I don't currently own an amp. From what i've read the HP100/150 are better with. K545s more amp optional. Some songs I thought about. First sounds 'mazing with the Senns; the others I'm not so sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOLTrrcWE5c   for...

    AKG new headphone K545?

What do you experts think about the HP100/150 against the K545?   I'm with Sennheiser Momentum right now but I'm finding the bass a bit loose and the sound lacking energy and clarity in the highs. So I'm basically looking for more punchiness and vibrancy.     *Listens to Swing, Rock, Jazz...

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread

Has anyone got opinions about the HP150 vs the AKG K545?   I'm listening to Sennheiser Momentum right now* and I'm finding the bass a bit loose and highs veiled. It'd be great to have more energy better PRat too.   *Jazz, Blues, Swing, Rock, Scores, Alternative.

That makes a lot of sense - listening  right now.   So what which of it's competitors would you has the PRaT and speed but doesn't fall behind in other areas? I'm so eager for that foot tapping

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

Fair; muffled is an overstatement. I watched your full reviews and totally agree but I’m not sure I can hack the treble roll-off. Staying with an over-ear design can anyone rate the K545/HP100s for treble clarity without sacrificing the momentums richness?   Maybe this also helps explain: the...

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

So I've had the momentums for about a week now. First off, I agree they can sound fantastic...but. To my ears the they sound kind of sleepy and muffled in the upper mids and treble.   The bass has this wonderful understated powerful feel in songs that aren't very bassy but doesn't keep it...

Need good cans. All advice welcome

And from what I found the on-ear variant is not so slick. UK pricing can be different but Amazon is always a winner   Someof the kind music I listen to: Ella Fitzgerald, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bccOfePKVc                             Nina simone...

Need good cans. All advice welcome

Hello everyone, new here. I’m looking to get a pair of closed back ‘somewhat portable’ headphones good for Jazz, Rock, Alternative and to lesser priority Classical (film scores) which seems be a tall order. For pleasure not studio use. Ultimately I don’t want something that shows up flaws but...
