Bought a Surf Cable Balanced 4 pin for my Sennheiser HD 700 (Nov 2016) this is a very, very noisy cable, not microphonics but megaphonics! You get what you pay for.

The Senn HD800. Is the new 800S simply the modded 800? Why would Senn keep the old 800s in the lineup if they feel as many do that the HD800 had such an irritating top end and needed a replacement. From personnel experience I had sold the pair I had bought in 2011 (sold a couple months later)...

Agree why keep an inferior phone in stock, replace it. I sold my HD800 2 years ago couldn't handle the top end for more than 30-40 minutes. I am enjoying the HE560s I bought a month or so ago.

Also i owned the original Lyr/Bifrost several years ago that I used with the HD800s so sibilent I couldn't listen for any more than 30 to 40 minutes. I gave my brother the amp dac and sold the HD800s. Oh well here i go again!

I received my HE560s on 11/03/15, I purchased these on Ebay for around 640.00 (for me a good buy from an authorised dealer). I had some reservations as to the high end possible being sibilant but have been enjoying these from day one for many hours without any problems with the high end. Bass...

No, I was using the original Schiit Bifrost (Toslink) coming out of a Zune Platinum with the AV Base (Toslink) to the Bifrost and than out to the Schiit Lyr (Original). and the 800s top end was just to hot. Loved everything else about the cans.

Where have you been? The HD 800s are notorious as high end treble makers! I returned mine with-in a week. P.S. I will try the HD 700s with a Schiit Valhalla 2 and see if that works as I loved the aire and soundstage of the 800s, just couldn't live with the high end. Have a good day.
