If you want a very thinn device you should rather get Xiaomi Mi note, because the X5 Max seems more like a design challenge/marketing stunt.   I don't really know what to tell you because it's two totally different devices that appeal to separete groups of people.

If the resistance of the audiochain dips above the 1/8th rule ( DAP resistance + cable resistance  <  1/8th of CIEM resistance) it really can become an issue. The most troublesome is probably the SE846 with 16Ω @ 1khz.

I have good news, for you at least. After I had charged my Alien till the red light went off, 1h 45min, the battery only lasted for 4 hours at best, although the reason for this has yet to be determined.

Don't try to recreate it, that's how it's going to get worse. If you had the issue only with one headphone the problem is more likely to be found on the male connector.

You might want to try the new Momentum wireless, the cups on those are a bit larger, however if you don't plan on using bluetooth connectivity it's probably not a good value.
