Has anyone been able to compare these to the CKS99 yet?

Will be using mostly at home, and sometimes bring it with me in the car for trips. Doesn't matter to me, as long as they sound similar to the MDR-1A and respond well to EQ.

Also looking at the ATH-WS99.   I tried the momentum, but in-ear version. Hated them; extremely uncomfortable (feel like it had to do with air pressure), highs pierced and bass wasn't anywhere near the MDR-1A.   Not sure if it matters, but I've been using an equalizer since I got the Sonys...

Anyone have recommendations on a replacement for my late MDR-1A?   Currently looking at the CKS99 (for $100cdn brand new), CKS1100 and xba-z5 if I can still get it for $450. Anything else you guys can recommend with similar sound/quality in the $200-$400 range?

I called warranty earlier today. If I still had the receipt and I purchased it within a year, they would give me a brand new unit for free. I no longer have the receipt, and I think it's been about a year and half anyway.   Just figured out how to detach the ear cup so I'll play around with it...

Yes, it did come with an extra cable but I have no idea where I lost it...   just tried using a regular 3.5mm cable and had to push in real hard to get sound coming out the left ear. right still didn't work :(     does that mean it's dead?! IM SO SAD

Hey guys, my mdr-1a right ear stopped outputting sound :( Didnt drop it or do anything harmful to it whatsoever. The sound just stopped working overnight. Tried plugging into different sources, same problem. Dont have an extra cable i can test. Is it just dead? Is there anything i can do...

I'm really satisfied with my MDR-1A so far. I don't listen to them flat though, EQ V shaped sounds really clean with a punch and creamy sub bass rumble; nothing overwhelming but very very present and doesn't bleed into other parts of the spectrum. Would prefer highs to be a little more crisp...

Hm... Anybody think their left cup is just slightly weaker in volume than the right? And/or the left cup is more angled compared to the right, making your left ear a little uncomfortable?   My ears also touch the driver, right ear barely notices it, left ear finds discomfort too often.

For isolation, I don't think its one of their strengths. I can hear my keyboard clicking pretty clearly as I type this (mechanical blue switches), I can hear a voice at the door enough to hear it but can't make out the words, 0 cable noise for me.

You're right there's no confirmation yet, but there are rumors as usual. The compact has sold pretty well though from what I could read. Should find out in January or February.
