iFi iDSD Micro DSD512 / PCM768 DAC and Headphone Amp. Impressions, Reviews and Comments.
Turn on the iDSD before connecting it to the iPod. I think that triggers it to run off the battery and not pull power from the USB connection.- CriticalTodd

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
I've been using one of either an Ifi iDSD micro, a GO450 to Leckerton UHA-6S.MKII, or a GOV2+, for both home/office and mobile. Would a Jotunheim be a good upgrade as either just an amp or as a DAC/amp over, or in addition, to any of these? Just got a pair of Ether Flow C headphones to go with...- CriticalTodd

Recommended Headphones for Gaming?
Yep, I figured that part. The Mixamp is really just to get that 7.1 out of the PS4. When you fed the Mixamp out to your WA2, did you set the volume on the Mixamp to max?- CriticalTodd

Recommended Headphones for Gaming?
I've been using my AKG K7XX for gaming on my PS4. I can't comment on how it sounds relative to those other options but I think it sounds good. I game on PS4 and I use an Astro Gaming Mixamp to connect the headphones to the console.- CriticalTodd

Yep. This actually fine by me as I can then use the car's controls to play the music. The music format is easy to change if I decide to pursue it further. Nice to know that it looks like I can use the X5 like this if I want or need to.- CriticalTodd

PSB M4U1 VS NAD HP50
I don't have any experience with the M4U1 or M4U2 but I've had the NAD PH50s for a couple of months now and I'm very happy with them. I really like their bass-- sounds nice and tight to me.- CriticalTodd

The Fiio X5 Thread
So yesterday I plugged my X5 into my Ford Focus's USB media input. I was able to read both the installed SD cards through the console, cycle through artists, songs, etc. the only catch was it wouldn't play anything. It tried but errored out each time. All the music on the cards was formatted...- CriticalTodd

Nice. If nobody reports any issues, I'll definitely update. Anyone know if the X5 writes ID3 tags for things like play count, last played, etc.?- CriticalTodd

iFi iDSD Micro DSD512 / PCM768 DAC and Headphone Amp. Impressions, Reviews and Comments.
#1 - just look back a couple of pages or search the thread, it's literally JUST been discussed. #2 - I don't know but, unless your Audeze are iems, why would you turn that on? I think turbo is just if your headphones aren't getting enough power on the other modes so if eco and normal...- CriticalTodd

Xduoo Amplifiers
I picked up the TA-01 through the Massdrop deal and just today lugged it to my office cube to power my JVC HA-S680s (Brainwavz replacement pads). I also swapped out the stock tube with a Tung-Sol. I haven't messed with the gain jumpers. I find, for my uneducated ears, that I like the sound so...- CriticalTodd

Just been messing around with random play and, at first blush, it seems okay to me-- though it feels truly random with each track selection rather than a randomized playlist. Also, unless I'm using a different feature, I don't think it has to be all songs (unless you want it to). From the...- CriticalTodd

The Fiio X5 Thread
Just a few notes from some initial playing with both devices (I didn't do a direct A/B yet so keep that in mind), I think the iDSD comes out ahead as a pure amp/DAC: the soundstage sounds fuller-- wider, deeper-- and it's more detailed. My observations come from, so far, listening to an...- CriticalTodd

The Fiio X5 Thread
Sorry but I cannot disagree more strongly about this-- as someone who deals with UI (albeit on the web), there is definitely a RIGHT placement for things unless and until someone comes up with a better or more RIGHT placement. It's about conventions and a user's expectation that the device...- CriticalTodd
