Thanks for your answer, I have only fiio's x1 and e11k for a source and amp, and started with the k240 headphones. I intend to test this set up with a number of headphones before investing more in dac/amps.   At this price there seems to be little reason not to hop on the hype train

without the need (I HOPE) of having one of these 7xx, what are the odds that they can be driven close to their ability with just a fiio e11k?

Ive listened to digitized classical recordings that are better listened to whithout that small pause (gap) between tracks

From reading about the e11k one thing that all (iirc) reviewers agreed that the e11k has a much much lower noise floor, thus being recomended for very sensitive headphones and especially IEMs. They also said that the e11k is an all round improvement but dont really remember any more details.

I am also a begginer and am starting with a fiio x1 (DAP) akg k240 mkii's (headphones) SoundMagic e10's (IEMs) fiio e11k (portable amp). Though I dont have any musical experience nor that healthy of a starting budget at the moment Ive come to accept, after much lurking, that my wallet will be...
